I had my first hair trial yesterday. I loved the way it looked right after she completed the style, but not even an hour after, the curls fell and it looked like a style I did at home I flat ironed my hair on Sat and the hair stylist warned me the curls would probably not stay due to that. I dont know if this is true, but my search for a hair stylist continues!
Ok looks like I cant upload the pics on here. Ill put them in my album.
i think it came out nice but that sucks that it fell. ive flat ironed my hair and then curled it the next day and the curl stays. do your curls normally fall??

Re: 1st Hair trial w Pics
i have EXTREMELY curly hair, and when I flat iron it it CANNOT hold a curl. if you loved the trial, then reconsider because flat ironing really messed with it. i don't know why your stylist didn't just wet your hair, though. I think it looks really good considering she did it on flat-ironed hair. Next time, make sure you don't flat iron before you go or just wash and dry your hair right before.

It looks really nice but I agree- a little flat. It does look like you curled it at home. BUT she's right about the flat iron. In fact, I wouldn't even wash my hair the day of your next trial. Day old hair holds styles MUCH better. Good luck!

Re: 1st Hair trial w Pics
I have naturally curly hair as well. Honestly, I havnt had my hair professionally styled since Prom (other than having regular blow outs), so Im not even sure if my hair can hold a curl from a curling iron. I think she should have wet my hair as well.
There was another thing I found a little weird. I asked her if on the day of my wedding I should wash my hair right before she arrived. She told me I could but she would charge me extra for having to blow it out . Is this wat most stylists do?? I figured if Im paying her 150 just to put some curls in my hair, the least she could do is blow it out no???

Ahh, I think it looks gorgeous. I think Lauren did a great job (btw, I love her. She's doing my bridal parties hair). I'm sorry it fell out and you were disappointed!

When you go to a hair trial you must wash your hair at least the day before and at the most blow it out. But do not flat iron it. I have naturally curly hair and i flat iron it almost everyday and flat ironing alters your the natural pattern of your hair. So you have to start with a fresh head of hair if you want the curls to stick.

ITA with this 1000000%!!!!!! I am sick of these hairdressers that just whip out the curling iron and hairspray!! I had 2 trials and both look similar to yours. It is nice... but I did not feel sexy.. the curls are too tight and stuck together (and don't hold) I am talking to a hairdresser now and told her I want a blow out then some styling with an iron (if even necessary!) I like how regular blow outs look WAY better than this typical Shirley Temple/banana curl style!!
I do not want to blow my own hair out then have them just throw some curls in for like 200.00!! I could do that myself! I think the key to big sexy waves is a GOOD blowout first!! UGHH sorry had my own little vent session... just very annoyed with 'wedding hairdressers' and all the money I have spent on trials
Sorry you had a bad trial.. like i said it looks nice but I am in the same boat as you... and I really am not a fan of how the curls are chunked together. I feel like personally I do not EVER curl my hair... and I do not want these curls for my wedding... yet no hairdresser seems to understand this. Mine was seriously almost EXACT and also fell out later in the day (different hairdresser)
ETA P.S.. I know alot of people say your hair needs to be day-old to hold a style etc./don't do wash it day-of blah, blah, blah..... but I am sorry when I go to a salon and get a good blow out I LOVE the way it looks and I always feel like a million bucks. Also it holds a nice wave all night with just a little product. SO I am confused when I hear people say to blow it yourself the day before

Honestly, I think wedding hairdressers overcharge just because they know they can, not because its actually earned. I paid 75 dollars for this trial, and all she did was put hair spray in my hair, and curl it with an iron! I agree, I think any good hair style first needs to begin with a good solid blow out. I do like curls however, just not Shirley Temple cliche looking curls.
BTW- With my curly hair, there is no way IN HELL I am going to blow out my own hair and then pay someone to curl it. If I have to blow it out, then I might as well curl it myself.

I totally agree with you!! I think its completely overpriced!! I am considering just having a salon blow it out day-of. I am going to set up one last trial who said she thinks 100% to get the look I want she will have to blow it first... so we'll see! Hopefully 3rd time is a charm. I like a little curl too... but yea the cliche wedding curls are not my cup of tea and I don't think its a sexy look. I have hair inspiration pics in my album that I sent to every stylist now. Hair has been the worst part of my wedding planning !

Im sorry you didnt have the greatest experience...Your hair does look beautiful in the pics!!!
and I do find that I cannot flat iron my hair before I curl it otherwise it will fall out, I just do a rough blow dry, not pin straight blow dry..all the stylists told me not to flat iron before a trial
I did notice it was my girl's salon tho...Im sorry

I flat ironed my hair the day before I went for my trial. Check out my pics...my curls were full of volume and lasted all night! I highly recommend Hair Sculpting by Renee!!! She is fabulous!!

Crashing!
I flat ironed my hair the day before my wedding and my curls never fell AND I have curly hair. It killed me to wash my hair even 3 days later, it was still so curly and pretty!
A flat iron shouldn't make a difference with your curls as long as it's done the day before, not the day of like Jill said.
