1st QOTD for Me!

So...after the conversation I had with my MIL this morning...it sparked my QOTD....

How well do you ladies get along with you MIL/FMIL?? And what does she do to drive you CRAZY ??

Mine is a total nutcase...haha. She calls me this morning and says 'Darren said you havent been feeling well...are you pregnant? Have you checked recently?..'

Seriously?? Haha. And when I told her I wasnt, Ive just had the flu...she went on to tell me that my son needs a brother or sister...a playmate so hes not spoiled. I told her I dont think we can even have anymore kids (I had problems ever since I had my son 4 yrs ago)...and even after telling her this she has the nerve to tell me Im SELFISH for not having another child??!!

I just got done telling her I could die from having another child and she called me selfish...hmmm...she honest to god drives me up the wall. Who says that??

I get along really well with MIL. She's one of the sweetest, nicest people I know! I'm really lucky though, and I know it!

I've posted lots of times how FMIL and I don't get along. From buying her dress before I even had colors for my BP to buying me control top underware .... it's all bad. Thankfully she lives out of state!

FH's aunt is a different story. I love that woman and wish she were going to be my MIL.

We get along really well, despite how the stories I sometimes share make it sound...those are clearly the extremes lol. She's really good to me, and loves me, my own mother says I have her fooled Just coming from the type of family I do, it's a really big culture shock, and still is 5 years later, because she can be very involved and is very protective, and it's just very different.

I love my FMIL. She really takes care of me, especially since my parents live in FL and Im basically here by myself.
She does do things that annoy me though, like shes really traditional and conservative so she makes comments about things I wear sometimes, but nothing too bad.
I would say the worst thing she has done is made weight comments. She doesn't do it to hurt me. Its kind of a thing with my culture where the older folks think its ok to say things like that. Needles to say it pisses me off but whatever, it could be a lot worse.!

I get along with FMIL very well. She is very nice... so it's hard to not get along with her. Sometimes people think she comes across as intimidating... and I can see that... but MOST if not all of what she says is a joke... it just seems to come out more serious.

She talks slow... sometimes I want to just finish her sentences!! haha!!
I can always tell when FH has been talking to his mother because he picks up her speed of talking... and starts talking super slow to me! I then interrupt him and say.. have you been talking to your mother today? haha!! Then he picks up the speed and talks normally!

She really is a nice woman... not too much to complain about.

My family on the other hand... ahh!! BUT also my family is the FUN and wacky side. 2 VERY different families!!! VERY DIFFERENT!!

Maybe that's becuase you are super sweet and get along with EVERYONE!!!

My MIL is 46 years old -- SO YOUNG!!! When we first met, she was only 42, and I had a really tough time with how young she was, but I'm over that at this point.

So, the only issue we really have is that she's totally flighty and a bit scattered. She has a wonderful heart though and would never hurt a fly. We have very little in common, but get along ok enough. She will talk and talk and talk about nothing at all, which can be a little awkward, but it's fine. I don't ever expect us to be very close, but we get along fine enough.

OMG Sandra!!! I'm a year younger than your MIL was when you met her! I feel ancient. Thank you so much for saying she's so young!!!

Sandra, you have a young one. Mine is 84! She had FH later in life. She has dementia and speaks daily about how she hopes to be alive for our wedding and not die before December.

I just try to stay out of her way and it works out most of the time. She is not particularly nice to me, but her two sons can do no wrong.

lol...it depends on what day you ask this question...hehe

Id say a majority of the time I love my MIL and have no issues, but there have been days - esp the 1st 4 months where we were engaged where I wanted to choke her....

(she kept saying she wasnt coming to the wedding, she was, she wasnt - all b/c of her cluster headaches which if she didnt smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day she probably wouldnt have anymore) - but things did work out in the end - so at the curent time we are getting along well...

my fh's mom passed away b4 i met him so i unfortunately never met her. his dad is really nice but veryy quiet.

Oh this is the same for me and it makes me so sad. .. and his dad is . . well interesting but NOT parental and lives in another state so interaction is minimal but I really WISH I could have met his mom

I have a great relationship with her. i consider her a friend and also like a 2nd mom.

Seriously, I have no gripes about her. I am blessed.

i get along with my MIL altho she kinda drives me a little bit crazy!
(like her not giving us a wedding gift, and refusing to send rehearsal dinner invites)

she also does things that i dont like...i dont know her history with DH's dad (they are divorced) but she like doesnt try to get along, goes out of her way to screw him over! and yes maybe something in the past has caused her to be this way who knows, but all im saying is you have 3 kids together, there are times you will have to communitcate and be civil to one another and its like she doesnt care!

lol but for the most part we get along.

i just hope she doesnt give us issues once we have kids...long story hopefully short...i was dog sitting my brother dog, and walked him over to MIL's house when she was having a bbq...she thought the dog was hungry i said he is fine, i will feed him once i get home, and hes like no ill make him a hamburger, and i said nooo thats ok, i dont think my brother gives him people food.....and what did she do, she bbq'ed the hamburger and fed it to the dog! i can see potential issues once kids arrive....lol
