1st Shoes

I can't believe its almost time but.....

when is the best stage to get baby's first pair of shoes? I know they say barefoot is best, but I have a feeling Aidan will be walking real soon. He has only worn socks and Padders (great slippers he wears them everywhere) umm I don't count the 2 pairs of PreSchoolians I bought and he grew out of never wearing them.

Whats confusing is Stride Rite has Baby Stages shoes now for crawling, cruising and walking.. doesn't this all happen in like a 2 month period?

Just in the past week he mastered the crawling and pulling up to standing!

So do you go for the first official shoes while they are learning their first steps or wait until they are walking well and need them for the pavement?

We got Alex's shoes about *now* in your childs development. We went to stride rite and got him a pair of thicker crib shoes.. the soles are harder than regualr crawling shoes, and softer than toddler shoes... He was in them for about 3 months... Then we got him his first walking shoes.. When you go they will ask you a bunch of questions about where he is developmentally and then will show you the shoes they would recommend at this stage.

Alex walked for a long time holding onto things, but when it came to not holding on it was a little longer. Feel free to FM me with any other ??'s! Good luck!

I think Andrew is roughly the same age as Aidan. He's doing all the same stuff, and I know he'll be walking soon! Normally, since Andrew's feet are so chubby, he just wears Old Navy socks with the treads on bottom. We also got a pair of Robeez for him, that we got as a gift from my Aunt. They are so adorable, stay on his feet, and he's able to get around in them. The bottoms are soft and flexible. This is his pair:

Holy Coincidence... todays mail had a coupon for $5 off at Stride Rite!
