give me a break...that is crap....i hope the marriot doesn't try to pull this with me lol they already have booked rooms from me for april 2008!! I just sent the STD's out last week!
I haven't even decided if I want to do OOT bags yet, but I want this to be cleared up so I can make my decision.

Unfortunately the rooms are more than $100 but that just further proves the point!

yeah- seriously- they are getting over $100they throw them on their carts amd walk to a few rooms and place them in there.
I agree- tell them you spoke to another hotel or something and they arent charging,
I mean, yeah- its only $2, but its the principle that the guests are paying for the hotel and they are there b/c YOU told them to book there.
How many gueats do you have staying?

I think that is crazy!!!! You are going to be using about 40 rooms which means lots of money in their pockets and they can't do you the favor! I would call them up and say since we have 40 rooms reserved can you do something about the charge for handing out our OOT bags.
Hotels do do this and not just for weddings. They even charge to have a piece of paper given to guests that are checking in for certain events. It's stupid I know. Do you plan on doing a brunch? See if they will take off the $2 charge if you do that or something else that is worthy of spending money on.
Its not unheard of but I agree it is crazy. My best advise is try and negotiate. Sometimes bigger hotels charge this fee to discourage guests from doing it -- they don't want to be responsible for handing them out (even at the front desk!) I have had hotels charge me A LOT more then that to hold envelopes at the front desk for events where we are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars. They get you for EVERYTHING they possibly can!
Is the hotel giving out alot of things in the OOT bags. If they are I say that is a good deal, so you wont have to go through the trouble of doing it yourself, let them do it.
I have never heard of this! Is there other hotels you can research so you can go back to that one and let them know your other options??
wow i never even thought of that. I didn't know they charged.. that's nuts!! like they aren't making enough money off of all of your guests staying there anyway!! Crazy!!!
