2 part question...

2 part question...

I am getting married at Fox Hollow, and blocked rooms at their inn next store. FH thinks we should give guest an option, since some guest will be staying more than the one night and FH inn is a little pricey.

I'd rather have guest just stay next store so we don't have to worry about shuttle buses or anything -and I feel that if someone wanted to find other hotels, couldn't they get on the internet and find em?

Any opinions? And of course -what other hotels would you recommend in the Fox Hollow (woodbury) area?

THANKS!

I know what you mean about the shuttle bus issue - you don't want to feel obliged to provide transportation and that could come up if you block rooms elsewhere.

How about this - when you send out your info to the OOT guests, I'd just say that you've blocked a set of rooms at Fox Hollow at $__ per night. Then I'd say, 'for guests wishing to stay elsewhere, the following hotels are nearby... Please be advised, however, that we have not blocked any rooms at these hotels and, therefore, the rates are not guaranteed.'

Plainview Marriott Residence is pretty much the next exit off the Seaford Oyster Bay. Then there's a nice 'motel' (Best Western, but I hear it's nice) just east on Jericho. Then there's the Executive Suites just east of that. Lots of options there, but I hear ya on the wanting just one hotel and no shuttles, thing. I hope they're giving you an AWESOME price for having your wedding there! I couldn't get them below 200 when I checked them out. Plainview Marriott is doing it for 139/night. I don't think my guests will want to kill me for that rate!

I think it is fine that you are providing one hotel option. I agree that if someone doesn't want to stay there, they can find another hotel on their own.

In my opinion, too many options makes things confusing.

Re: 2 part question...

This is all even more complex because with the Fox Hollow inn, you have to guarentee that half of your rooms will be booked, or are responsible for the difference....yet another reason I want to only encourage the FH -I can guesstimate a little better.

The price is high -199, so I do understand FH's concern.

The plainview sounds cool, and the best western should be a better price, i guess i should check em out.

Could I get away with putting other hotel suggestions on our wedding website?

All the hotels I looked into around FH - Inn at Fox Hollow, Best Western, and Executive Inn required the minimum of 7-10 rooms to be blocked, and you have to guarantee at least half, or you end up paying for the rooms.

That being said, we only blocked at the Inn at Fox Hollow and we have our five rooms booked! We only included their information in our STD's and in our Invitations, however, our guests can do their own research in finding something less expensive than the Inn.

What you can do is the following: don't block any rooms, and include hotel information in the surrounding areas, and your guests will decide for themselves.

Blocking rooms had it's disadvantage which is when you don't book up their required amount (half of the blockings) you're charged for those unblocked rooms.
