2 photographers?
We are in the process of hiring a photographer & we really want to use the photojournalistic style. My fiance has become convinced that in order to have nice photojournalistic pictures we need to have 2 photographers, but it is so expensive. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, what did/will you do?

2 photographers?
We are having 2 photographers. We also wanted a nice mix of photojounalistic, traditional and black and white pictures. Plus since our wedding will be abou 240 people, we definitely need 2 photographers. We splurged on the photography. We are willing to spend more money because the pictures are really important to us. When we went looking at photographers most places charged about $1000 extra. Good Luck

Try VIP. The full package is about $2200 and you get two photographers. Personally I like the idea of two photographers so that the behind-the-scenes stuff is not missed. But two photographers are not necessary for beautiful photos.

2 photographers?
We chose two photographers (plus an assistant) as we are having a large wedding, we wanted a nice mix of styles and I want one photographer to go to my FI's house and one to come to mine that morning. I like the thought of having loose candids and some photojournalism but I did not want ONLY photojournalism. Also, photojounalism really should be shot in black and white and we wanted a lot of color shots also. We don't want to depend on making the color shots B/W later as changing them later can produce gray, blurry images. Make sure though that the 2nd photographer is not just an assistant. Also, many places will offer packages but a lot of those places which say they shoot photojournalistic really do not know how to do it. We felt we could really splurge on this as you really only typically pay about 1/2 the fee before the wedding, 1/4 when you pick up the proofs and the final 1/4 when you get your album many months later. With the less expensive packages make sure you still get a good amount of proofs (preferably without their logo on front), your album and your parents albums are professionally bound and how many pictures you can include in your album. Also, do you get any extra prints? How much is editing? HOw much are the negatives and when can you buy them? Good Luck! :)

I don't think you need 2 photographers for photojournalism but you have to make sure to hire a true photojournalist and be willing to give up color photos and traditional posed ones. I wasn't willing to make the trade off so I hired a studio that always includes 2. No 1 photographer can give deliver all of those things. So if 2 photographers aren't in the budget, decide what is most important and pick based on that.

Check out photography by verdi. They are a husband and wife team.. Mindy usually acts as Rich's ass't.. we asked if she could take b/w pics and act as a 2nd photographer instead of an ass't.. it worked out great.. we weren't charged any extra to have her take pics.. one of our favorite pics is one she took.. check out LI wedding pages Spring issue p 138 (I think).. thats us on Verdi's advertisement :) Minday took the pic. Packages range from $2-$3K. Best of luck!

I am having two photographers as well - and decided to cut my budget for invitations (went with cheaper ones) and favors (won't be having any). As others have said, the difference worked out to be around $1000 at most places. You can also consider not purchasing albums now -- those can always be made later when you have more money available...
