1- any ideas on what your guests should throw instead of rice?

2- I can't seem to find a creative money holder. I was hoping it could be something I can keep in my house after the wedding and possibly use again. what are u ladies using? Thanks :)

Re: 2 questions

My mother refuses to not throw rice. She says what are they gonna do, arrest me?!? Rice means good luck and she is insanely superstitious.

I'm trying to find a wine barrel to put our cards in. I think I'll sell it after the wedding tho.

Wow I'm no help.

1. Haven't put much thought into it yet.

2. What about a personalized mailbox? You can make it match your decor and then put it in front of your house after the wedding.

Re: 2 questions

We are doing bubbles after the ceremony.

My fiance' is making me a large bird house that will hold the envelopes and I figure I can use it as a house decoration after! It's coming out awesome!

Re: 2 questions

Our church only allows us to use bubbles or bells.

As far as the card holder I have no idea. I think Im going to use a white birdcage cage cause that matches my theme plus my daughter can use it as a decoration in her room.

Re: 2 questions

My good friend got married last weekend and used ribbons tied on sticks like ribbon wands and they were so cute and the pics look awesome

Supposedly rice is really bad for birds because they eat it off the ground and then it xpands in their stomachs and causes them to die

:(

Re: 2 questions

I ove how bubbles look in pictures. As for the card box, I'm using a bird cage. My sister used it too.

I like the idea of the mailbox.

Re: 2 questions

I haven't heard any really creative idea's. I liked bubbles but since we are getting married at the RH i am not sure if that's a great idea.

I am most likely going old fashioned and using a bag, my mother has been very old school about it and thinks the card boxes are ridiculous..

We are getting married at our RH, so I don't think we are going to do anything. I could DIY ribbons...we'll see.

I'm planning to DIY a card box.

Re: 2 questions

I think we are going to do bells instead of rice (which we couldn't throw anyway). My family has a weird tradition with bells, and I found a cute poem on pinterest (I'm pretty sure Diana on here pinned it first lol) to go with it.

I think we are just making a card box - I'll probably get rid of it afterwards. But definitely look into the mailbox, bird cage/house, or even a wooden chest with your initials on it (look on etsy) - you can always use the chest to put wedding stuff in afterwards as a keepsake box.

Re: 2 questions

You can throw flower petals instead of rice.

Im noot sure what we are doing for a card box yet. I saw one bride on here who used photo frames for each side of the box and like glued them together some how. Looked really nice.

Re: 2 questions

Awhile back I heard that it was possible to order and release butterflies. It seems like a cute idea but I wouldn' want to do it with my wedding being so close to winter. I'm sure FH will be glad, he thought it was a terrible idea.

Re: 2 questions

This has been a dilema for me as well. I can't do rice or petals and I don't want bubbles. I'm clueless about this. Thought about sparklers but it'll be 3:00 in July and won't have the same effect. Still thinking.

The card box is done in my mind though because I'm probably going to do a photo card box with our e-pics in it and it can be used in our house and hold pics of our family as it starts/grows.

Re: 2 questions

Answer to second question - my mom bought me a tall antique bird cage! We are going to decorate it for the wedding and then I will keep it afterwards for my house!

1 - We're throwing rose petals. Then again our wedding's going to wind up uber romantic on default and I'm loving it.

2 - As we're going semi-medieval, there will be a castle like construct hiding a safe, where cards will be locked in.
