I am a 2005 bride but i am Nov 2005 so I think that I have the longest amount of time. I have not posted here much because I felt like I was the only bride that was getting married in 2005 so it makes me feel better that their are more girls on here in the same situation as I am. So far I have booked the hall, and I have started looking at DJs because my engagement party is coming up and I need a DJ for that. I am getting married at the Inn at East Wind. And I felt like they worked more with me on the price because I am a 2005 bride. I originally was looking at May 2004 but I work full time and go to school at nights and just thought that trying to plan a wedding in only a year would be to stressful. So Hurray for 2005 brides. And I am with you I hate when people say oh you have 2 years why are you rushing or getting all excited. I like knowing I have a little more than 2 years. I will be able to make my wedding very personal and not have to worry about money.

Another one here...we are planning for Feb, 2005. We still have tons to do though. Right now, we are visiting the halls, I got the 'marraige info packet' from my Church. I just hope they can do the ceremony during lent.

Re: 2005 Brides.....
I was originally looking into halls in Westchester because it is closer from the Church (i'm in Upper Manhattan), but the ones I looked at were pretty pricey and do not offer you as much as the halls in LI do. Most of our family are out on LI anyway, although they still have to come out to Manhattan to the ceremony. So far, I think I am interested in Leonard's. I've seen a lot of nice places, but so far they are giving us a good deal and hopefully the offer is the same when we go for the tasting on Sat I am also going to try and go back to Manor East and see what their 'off peak' prices are.

Re: 2005 Brides.....
I am a 2005 bride, and have been here since July 2002 (we are having a 3 year engagement). I post often, but being so far away, sometimes I feel out of the loop- it's nice to see that there are so many more 2005 brides since I started posting here. (I think I was actually the only one for 2005 when I became a member!)

Re: 2005 Brides.....
When we got engaged, we looked at at least 10 halls. The first one I looked at was villa Lombardi's. I was in love, but decided to continue my search. East wind was the last place I looked and loved it there too. I ended up booking Villa Lombardi's because I heard how phenomenal the food was and The East Wind was far since a lot of my guests are coming from queens and Nassau (I thought that would be an inconvenience since it's a sunday evening reception).
Although I felt like I was crazy for looking at so many places, I am glad I did because I am sure about my hall, and not left thinking 'i should have looked here . . .'.
I have also booked my photographer and videographer (Patken) and my DJ (Tommy's Tunes).
I was going to start looking at dresses over the summer, but might wait a little longer.
Our wedding date is July 10th 2005 (exactly five years to the date we met!)

Re: 2005 Brides.....
I am not an '05 bride but just wanted to tell you girls how fast the time will go. I got engaged last year and am planning for an '04 wedding. 2 years seemed so far away but now with just about a year left, I feel like it is here. And it is never to early to post. Have fun planning!!!!!

BriBri, did you vendors, other than the reception halls, give you a hard time or say anything about your wedding being in 05?

Re: 2005 Brides.....
Although my wedding is July of 04, I know what its like when people are like that is so far away, why are you booking now? I booked my hall on July 4 2002 for my wedding on July 17, 2004. Let me tell you, the July 4th weekend was already booked! I think its a good thing to book early, I got the videographer and photographer I wanted. When I went to see them, the calender was wide open, and I was so glad that I didnt have any problems with that. The only thing I had a problem with (and this was back in February) I looked at 2 bands that I loved that were already booked for my date! (Ive seen others, but those 2 I loved). The one I wound up getting was better than the others anyway, but still it was frustrating to feel like hello im looking a year and a half before the wedding and your booked?! Ladies, if you want a band, start looking and book soon, because they book up fast. I have been told by florists that its still early, and I shoudl wait a little while before I start booking. I wouldnt recommend BM dresses this soon either. You never know what can happen, one of my BMs became PG, and I would have been screwed if I got those dresses already! Good luck ladies, feel free to FM me anytime! Trust me it will come fast!

Re: 2005 Brides.....
Thanks Imagin. It's nice to hear that someone else has had the same experiences! I was convinced it was not too early when most of the places we went to were booked already for our date It's never too early!

Re: 2005 Brides.....
Thanks Rachel. I dont think its too early for 05, (06 is a different story), and especially since your wedding is a holiday weekend I would book early. Here are a list of my vendors if you would like to check them out:
Reception: Riviera at Massapequa
Band: Times Square Orchestra (I have seen 6 bands, and I liked them the best. I guess it worked out that I didnt get the other bands)
Photography: North Shore Studios
Video: LCA productions (DEFINITLY check this guy out! His video looks like you are watching a wedding story, truly amazing. He is my favorite vendor in a tie with the Riviera) He does a lot of bridal expos, pick up a demo CD rom and check it out!
I dont yet have my limos, flowers, invitations, ect. I will update when I get those!

Re: 2005 Brides.....
ooh . . . soon there will be enough of us for the '2005 Brides' board
It really is nice to have some fellow 2005 brides - I felt weird at first . . .
When it comes to booking vendors, some will book you right away with current prices, which is why we booked so early- we knew who we wanted- why wait?
Other vendors might not be so eager to book so far in advance because they don't want you to have the current prices.
When I booked Villa Lombardi's it was 2002 for a 2005 wedding. We got the 2002 prices, and were NOT the only booking for 2005.
Just book your vendors regardless of any 'comments' that are made- if you know what you want there is no reason to wait it out.
Our next booking will be the Church which we are eagerly awaiting. The two churches we are trying to decide on don't book until fall 2003 for 2005 weddings.

Re: 2005 Brides.....
We are doing either Jan 2005 or June 2005. For awhile I thought we were the only 2 with a long engagement. Iwas so upset because his brother got engaged after us and they are doing it next year. Does any one have opinions on having a winter wedding, i am so scared of the weather!
