Re: 2010 Bellport Country Club Brides
the same -- Gerard.... he's been awesome so far... quick to respond via email (not always same day or next day but always within a few days and always answers all the questions i've had)..... i just feel comfortable with him, y'know? I like that he's a younger guy, understands that weddings are stupidly expensive and I feel like he has our best interests in mind...
we went for a tasting before we booked - i don't know if you have yet - but we were BLOWN away by how good everything was....
how many people are you having do you think? our invite list is right around 185 but I think we'll only have 150 or so actually come....
so nice to chat with someone else getting married at the BCC!!! :o)

yea, i also like the fact that he is much more relateable. plus, he was the one who we initially booked with and answered all our questions in the first place so we just kind of feel more comfortable with him. we actually did the tasting a few weeks after we booked. they really did a wonderful job accommodating to us (we brought 6 people) and the food was wonderful. We hope to have around 130-140 guests but the number keeps on growing as parents say so and so has to come. which room do you plan to have the cocktail hour in?

Re: 2010 Bellport Country Club Brides
haha i hear you on the guest list expanding -- ours is happening the same way.....
we actually talked to gerard about the cocktail hour -- he said that, weather permitting, we could always set up inside & outside or if it's nasty out, we can set up in the coctktail hour room, the lobby, and the back part of the ballroom (can be closed off so you don't see it)...
i think that would be more than fine....
i had the same concern though that the cocktail hour room could feel small... but we're most likely going to be swapping out a bunch of the CH stations for a raw bar...
FH and i hate the idea of someone sitting down with a knife and fork at cocktail hour.... especially since BCC offers the seconds trays after the dinner is served... I hate an overkill CH so we are probably going to do the cold display (antipast, etc), the raw bar, maybe 1 or 2 hots and then tons of hand passed...... so i think that'll help with the space issue....
have you given any thought ot any of your other vendors yet? part of me feels like it's still so soon but then again i know the next year is going to fly by!!!

Re: 2010 Bellport Country Club Brides
we are probably going to do cocktail hour in the regular room since our guest list is not that huge (yet). we took out the carving station and passed hors d'oeuvres because we did not want too much food and plus it saved us a decent amount of money. as far as vendors go i kind of went wedding crazy in the beginning and felt like i had to book asap (partly this website made me feel like i was behind). so i have booked my photo/video, dj, and have an idea for my florist stuff. right now i am taking a break from booking and planning since i think i have most major vendors covered for now.

haha i hear you, between this and the knot i feel SO rushed!!! but i have to take a deep breath and remember people plan weddings in a heck of a lot shorter amount of time than i have....
do you mind if i ask which photographer you booked? was it a preferred vendor at BCC or did you go on your own?
we have some ideas of places we like but we haven't really started looking at that stuff yet... we felt we couldn't without a date y'know? but now we have the date! :)

Another Bellport bride here, I saw your post about cutting out stuff for the cocktail hour, did they reduce the price per person??

Re: 2010 Bellport Country Club Brides
i'm not cutting stuff per se, i'm swapping stuff that's comparable...
I think Krissy was saying she's cutting stuff though... There's no reason they shouldn't give you a lower price if you cut stuff altogether.
did you ask and they said they wouldn't?

Re: 2010 Bellport Country Club Brides
yea, it reduced it by like $10 pp. the way it was explained to me was that each station has a set price value and you can add and take away as you please. although, i did make sure that i was able to customize the menu when the contract was being written up so i do not know if that can be done after the contract is signed if it was not agreed upon.

I didn't realize it was an option, but as time is getting closer the pp price is killing me. I'm going to meet with them to discuss the pricing.

Re: 2010 Bellport Country Club Brides
they should definitely work with you -- we didn't sign any specifics to menu modifications (in fact, it says on the bottom that menu modification are done at a later point - i believe)....
so yeah -- i can tell you at the very least if you cut out the 6 hots and the carving stations at CH that will decrease the price by $10/pp... That's what we were told.
