2011 Bride here but I am now a FMIL! I need venue help.

My son just got engaged and we are so excited! I have offered to help with the planning. They are looking at August 2013 but are not firm on a date.
They are on a pretty strict budget but would like a venue with a ceremony space on or near the water.
We saw the Sands and Windows on the Lake.
We are considering looking at Land's End, Thatched Cottage and the Swan Club.
Any ideas, suggestions, prices would be a BIG help!!! Thanks!

Thatched Cottage is AMAZING. It was the 2nd venue we looked at and nothing else even compared!

I am booked at the Swan Club. The grounds are gorgeous! I love the ceremony space.. its all glass so you can see the beautiful views but your enclosed so you have ac in the warm weather or heat in the colder. Im booked last yr for Oct 2013 which is a peak month. A Sat night was about $100+ pp, a Sun night was $70 pp. Add 20% fees + tax. HTH

We're booked at the venetian yacht club in babylon. Their prices are over 100++ during the summer, but if they're willing to look during the off season (Nov - March) they'll get a much better deal! I felt comfortable booking off season because the wall facing the great south bay is all glass, so you get the view without being outside!

We went with Three Village Inn in Stony Brook. Loved the quaint village feel. They do the ceremony on site too.

I don't know what the budget is that you're looking at, but The WaterView Club in Bayville has been pretty reasonable for me - they quoted me $80 pp for a Friday/Sunday and $90 pp for a Saturday for summer 2012, and they were absolutely willing to negotiate the price with me when I couldn't make it. It's on the North Shore on the water so that would be exactly the kind of area you were looking for. Good luck.

There is a little known venue called North Shore Country Club. It use to be an all private club, but just recently they have began allowing non-members to have private parties there. i have only seen pictures online, but my mom and sister went there recently to check it out as a location for my bridal shower and they said it was beautiful. it is right on the water and they said they were very accomodating. i cant provide quotes or anything for a wedding, since they were only inquiring about a shower. i think it's worth checking out!
