so i booked my hall and church at the end of 2010 for our november 2012 wedding (crazy i know). ive noticed some of you girls have already booked your vendors as well. when should i start booking my florist, dj, bakery, photographer (a family member will probably do mine), etc? would i be crazy to start booking them 1.5 years in advance? i'd just like to make sure i get first pick of things, pay things off over time - and of course, not stress myself out a month before the wedding. should i realistically start after nov 2011 - or get the ball rolling now?? im trying to keep things in perspective here. thanks so much for your input!

Re: 2012 Brides - choosing your vendors
hey! my fiance and i just booked our chuch, reception and photographer for our 9/12 wedding. i think it is better to get the ball rolling early to help you plan a budget and lock in 2011 prices!

I also think it's never too early to start. This way, you get your choice of who is available and can pay it down early.

Definitely not to early.... you'll get your choice of vendors and should be able to get a better price since you have so much time!

I think that the more time you have the better you are. Take some time to do your research on all the vendors that way you can make a decision with more ease. Happy Planning!

I say start now and research and meet many vendors so when you make your final decision you will have more of a chance of getting the vendor you want. it's never too eary. Good Luck!

It is definitely not too early to start booking some of your vendors, like you said then you have peace of mind it is taken care of and more time to pay it off. I'd get started on the vendors that are most important to you, for example photo and DJ, and maybe leave the baker and florist until you are closer to your year mark. Good Luck!

Re: 2012 Brides - choosing your vendors
If there's vendors that are really important to you, I would start with those. DJ and photographer were important to me so I took my time and started early. But flowers I could care less about so I'm waiting till this summer. HTH

Re: 2012 Brides - choosing your vendors
I'm getting married a few weeks before you and already have my venue, band, photographer and dress. If you know what you want...book it. Sometimes vendors book years in advance. I'm holding off on the rest due to colors and such. Once I have my bridesmaid colors/dresses I can start visiting florists and as far as hotels blocks and extras, I think 1 year out is plenty of time.
Good luck! Happy Planning

This!! And this way you can really shop around for vendors and meet with as many as you need to!

Re: 2012 Brides - choosing your vendors
As soon as we got engaged we started looking at vendors. We decided to go to appointments slowly and see what we thought. As soon as we were sure of a vendor we would book them. The earlier you do it the more negotiation power you have!

Your better off booking early if you know who you want. We waited and believe it or not with still a year and half away people were already booked. We are going to a photographer tonight and was told make our appointment to come and possible book on the spot ASAP cause they only had 2 more openings on our day. The one we originally thought we wanted is already booked most weekends until 2013!!!

If you have the $ for deposits, then I would def go ahead and book away.
I an getting married 9/29/2012, and so far have my RH, Church, Band and Makeup (I think FFIL reserved date for Limos) . Im going to hold off a few months now for the rest, just because of the $ situation.
