all I know is what the lady to FH: this is 'intense' there is a lot of writing it is the 'BMW (not Cadillac) of Pre Cana' bring snacks and a washcloth no roommates, boys and girls on separate floors (duh) no alcoholic beverages (damn!)

Let us know how it went! We're going in February (Diocese of Brooklyn though at Douglaston, not Rockville Centre at Huntington). Apparently we've been told that the Engaged Encounter is more about you and your fiance working one on one instead of all group sharing...which I think is a good thing! Be sure to post your review!

we went last year. it was great! but yes, it is alot of writing and you need to pay attention!
do not make plans sunday night...i know we were exhausted afterwards
but we bought thought it was great and would highly recommend it!!!!

I hope that is true. I don't have any interest in group therapy! I'll let you know how it goes!

DonnaMarie: Yes its required, but there are different forms of Pre-Cana. This is one option....its a sleep-away weekend called Engaged Encounter. When you go to a Catholic Church to book your wedding, they will either give you or mail you a pamphlet with all of the options. We were told about the Engaged Encounter, a weekend that my diocese runs (that's not a weekend away but a Friday night and then Saturday all day session) and my parish has what they call 'In-home Pre-Cana' which is like a 5 week/once a week small group meeting in the home of the married couples of the parish who run the program. Most parishes and dioceses have lots of different options....I like the idea of the weekend away because its done in one weekend and the Engaged Encounter has been recommended to be as the better one out of my options...if you have to do it, it might as well be worthwhile, I say.

Thanks! I knew we had to do Pre-Cana, but I was thinking Engaged Encounter was in addition to Pre-Cana! I was like oh my gosh, I better start getting on top of this! lol Thanks for explaining :)
