LOVE Cabo! Do you teach on LI or NYC?
I've taught in NYC for 5 years
Very cool. :) This is my first year in NYC, I taught in a private prep school in Glen Cove while getting my masters, then 1 year in a Catholic school, 1 year as a leave replacement on Long Island and finally FULL TIME, lol. Its been so hard to get a full time, non leave replacement position in a public school!
I know it's impossible...I was very lucky that I went to the city right out of school and didn't believe in the 'LI dream'. Otherwise I'd be in the same boat as sooooo many people who can't get positions.
I was in the NYC 'New Teacher Finder' since 2008!! Never got a single call. I actually got my job by doing mass mailings- I think I sent to every school in Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau and Suffolk, lol

I'm back in school for education. I am going to teach high school math. I looked up alternative routes so I don't have to student teach (I'm planning a wedding, I need money) and apparently substituting is a paid option to get your classroom hours so now I'm looking for a school to nominate me.

Also it says that if you are on the path to becoming a teacher you can do more than 40 days in a year so I figure if I don't get a job right away I would be able to continue substituting. I hope i read that right.

5- Tied the ring to our pug's neck and when I came home from my last final he was wearing a suit, playing our song, had candles lit, and champagne chilled!
That is soooo cute!
