So I just called The Crescent Beach club and although they are cheaper then I thought they require a 25% deposit which works out to be between $5000-7000. Is this typical? I wasn't expecting to have to lay out this much up front.

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
yeah...that's a lot! We booked last July, I think our first deposit was $500, then,in October, another $1000. Our next one is $1500, due this October...then, 1/2 the total 30 days before...and the balance 8 days before the wedding...

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
I think it depends how long until your wedding and even how much it's going to be. We had to give 25% too. And then another like $3000 in Dec and then like $3000 in February I think and then in full by two weeks before.

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
I am not planning on getting married until this time in 2009. (I posted this in the wrong board (meant to post in 09) but good to get feedback from you girls too.) So I don't see how it could be they need that much because of a payment time table. But who knows, I have an appt there next Saturday so hopefully it was a miscommunication and/or they only say that over the phone.

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
our RH has you make 3 deposits - each were $2000. the balance isn't due until right before the wedding
1 at contract 1 - 3 months after that 1 - 3 months after the 2nd
it really helps to have it broken out like that

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
Our initial deposit with our hall was $1000 but then we made payments every other month for a few months. By the time we were at the 1 year mark I think we had given about $6k in deposits.

That's exactly what we are doing: a payment every other month.

wow that seems like way too much. mine was 1000 down and 4 payments of 1000 every 2 months after that.

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
it is more than what most RH's require for a deposit, but i have heard of a few that ask for that much, very few though
It depends on how their payment plan is, how would the payments work?
I only had to put down a $500 deposit but then again about every 2 months or every 3 months, it changes, i have to pay installments that range between $3500-4500. Then about a month before my wedding or less actually i will pay the rest that i owe

Re: 25% deposit for RH?
Our RH only made us give a $2000 deposit when we booked. But, we were also considering having our reception on a yacht through East Coast Yacht Cruises, and they were asking for a 50% deposit. One of the main reasons we did not book with them- we would have had to give $10,000 to $12,000 upfront!!
