25% deposit for RH?

So I just called The Crescent Beach club and although they are cheaper then I thought they require a 25% deposit which works out to be between $5000-7000. Is this typical? I wasn't expecting to have to lay out this much up front.

that seems high we put $1000 down
then had to have $5000 down by nov and nothing else till we finalize our menus

this seems like a lot more than usual...we left a much smaller deposit

I dont know if all halls are different, but I put down $500, then 50% spread out over 4 months. Then the rest of the 50% a week before.

I havent heard of $5000 all at once. They don't break it down?

That seems like a bit much. Ask them if you can put down less, this way if anything were to happen and you have to cancel, it is less you will lose. My original RH asked for $3500 and I told them no, I would give them $2500. They took it with no complaints. Well, I ended up cancelling it b/c we realized we would not be able to afford it and needless to say, I have yet to get a penny back of my $2500

Wow! That seems like alot. We had to put $1000 down and 1500 3 months later. I don't know what the payment schedule was because we paid half of it when the 1500 was due, but they were so flexible. They even went as far as to say final headcount and payment doesn't need to be given to them until the day before!!
