Posted this in 08, meant to post it here: So I just called The Crescent Beach club and although they are cheaper then I thought they require a 25% deposit which works out to be between $5000-7000. Is this typical? I wasn't expecting to have to lay out this much up front.

OK so thats 4 people (2 on the 08 board) saying it's a lot. I thought I was crazy and my Mom almost fainted when I told her (she said her and my dad would give us the RH deposit before I told her that). I figured around $1000.

I haven't asked anyone else who got married there, but maybe I'll find some 08'ers still on the board and ask them. My mom said maybe they try and get you to go on their financing plan or something. Who knows I just hope it isn't true.

i looked into gurney's and it was the same. that was one of the first places i checked into, so i didn't know that it wasn't typical. now that i know better, i'm like WHATEVER. your not that cool.

Thats alot of money to give down a deposit. I know some RH only ask for 1000 to 2000.

We guaranteed 80 people and we paid $7000 for our deposit... I am in love with my RH so if they wanted more I would have so paid it... I could have guaranteed less people, but I figured I can just put a big chunk down.

went i went to the fountainhead they require a 500 $ deposit, and 10 days later 25% which will be about 5000 the 4 to 6 months later another 35% then 2 more payments before the wedding date.

Wow that is a lot! We definitely didn't have to do put down that much!
Honestly, I would def not give them all that $$!!! Nassau has a law that does not refund any deposits and they include any additional payments you make as a 'deposit'.... Just remember if something were to happen, you are out that whole 5k without a doubt

I have never heard of that either I think my deposit was $1,500...but $5 - 7,000 that's a lot of money for just the deposit!! I wouldn't do that if I were you...

that definitely sounds like a lot... we only had to put 1000 down to book and then we have a few 1500 pymts due btwn now and feb 2009 which adds up to half

Damn!!! That is definately alot. But, it maybe it depends on the total cost of your event. Most RH only require $500-$1,000 deposit.
