Is it me, or did/does anyone else not give a rats arse about their wedding cake. Frankly, I never understood why people go nuts over one cake, but thats just me. I was offered choices when I chose mine, but I was pretty blase about choosing. I was more concerned with what it would look like rather than what it would taste like.
At most weddings, at least in the NY and surrounding areas, there are so many different types of desserts to offer a guest that a cake is not the thing that would make or break a wedding for me IMO. I usually taste the cake and eat the other stuff.
Am I alone in this thought?

Personally for me the cake is a big deal, don't know why lol but I love seeing these beautiful cakes and the funny part is that this is one area i did focus alot on from the beginning. But thats just me, i know alot of people don't care so you are definitely not alone. To each their own

Old married lady posting alert!
The 2K cake thread got me thinking....

My cake looked fine but it did not require much thought at all. It was about aesthetics for me:

I figure it better taste good - it's likely to be the only thing I'll really get to eat that night!

Re: 2K cake spinoff
I don't care about it at all. I never once noticed the cake at a wedding and I still don't...
I didn't realize cakes were so expensive otherwise I would have taken it out of my contract and added something else instead.

Re: 2K cake spinoff
in an earlier cake thread, a lot of brides commented that they don't think it's worth it to pay extra $$ for a cake (beyond what's provided at the hall), since they don't consider it a priority...
I was in the minority. Heck ya, I want a yummy and pretty cake! We're getting a fondant cake from our favorite bakery.... chocolate cake with choco mousse and mocha buttercream filling.

All a matter of preference I guess... I don't like cake at all so my cake is a three tier square cake where the inside is made of rainbow cookies. I think the only reason I really care about it is that it is a very 'me' part of the wedding.

I really do not care about the cake either. In fact, I HATE bakery cake and am not planning on really eating it. I am all about ice-cream.

If it's your typical wedding cake, I don't think people will take much notice anyway. But that 2k cake - people will remember that!
That is def. not in my budget, but I wasn;t too picky with my cake anyway.

That's a really cool idea.

Re: 2K cake spinoff
At first I really cared about the cake. I was absolutely obsessed with it. I went to a few tastings with the big shots and although the cakes looked beautiful they didn't taste good. To me the most important thing was taste. I wound up getting the free cake from the hall because I didn't want to spend so much money on a cake that looked good but tasted average. If the look of the cake mattered that much to me I would have spent a little more on an outside cake just not $20 a slice.

I'm with you on this one... I just want it to look pretty and taste good ... no need to have a super fanc cake in a certain shape, design etc. But that's just my personal preference.

Personally, I don't care. I'd like it to look nice but I doubt I'll even eat it.

Re: 2K cake spinoff
i have to agree....i feel like i am not worried about the cake at all.....whatever they offer i'll pick something and it will be fine. i am also more concerned with it being pretty than tasting good, jsut because we are doing the viennese hour so most people will go for other desserts andyways

I'm not that crazy over the cake, as long as it's chocolate for the FH.

I agree. My cake is very big deal to me as well. I think a wedding cake shouldnt be just a waste of money or calories, in other words it should be delicious and beautiful. Everyone has their own opinions about certain things when it comes to weddings. Some spend more in one area while others spend more in another.

Re: 2K cake spinoff
I have to agree. I love the way they look, it is fun to pick it out and decorate. I haven't had a thought to what should be inside or how it should taste though. For me it is not a priority.
