Yay.

I'm the 2nd baby in the family and I always feel slighted that my mom didn't get a shower for me. Esp since I was the first girl, she should've had one. Birth order shouldn't matter, if a woman is having a baby they should get a shower, even if it's just a little something to welcome the new arrival.

It's bad enough the 2nd born (and any thereafter) don't have as many pictures taken!!!!!!

absolutely nay
unless there is a significant gap btw the two pregnancies.

i think nay, unless the baby is a different sex or if there is a large gap b/w the babies.

I am so clueless.

I had no idea.

I was all planning a shower in my head for weeks now.

We are still going to do something for my sis (my Mom and I), of course. But we are not throwing a traditional 'shower' and inviting guests, etc.

She schooled me. So did you guys.

Thanks!

I say yay- but on a much smaller scale.
Like a few close friends and family members at a house for wine and dinner things.
10-15 ppl max.
intimate.
No registering, no catering, no wishing well or anything like that.
ETA- i see no reason to not celebrate another birth. As a second (and middle) child, I take offense.

it's probably wrong in the whole 'expecting a gift sense'

but I hate people and their effed rules.

I say throw the shower...celebrate the pregnancy. If people want to get all judgy and Emily Post on you, tell them to take a leap in the wishing well.

that's what i would do. why shouldn't you at least celebrate the pregnancy in some way? just cause someone has a '1st child' doesn't mean they don't have to celebrate the fact that another one is on the way! no gifts need to happen...maybe just a nice luncheon or something. but i say go for it

I say nay - parents are supposed to keep the furniture to be used by all babies, regardless of sex. Families will always buy new toys and clothing for any new baby that comes along.

I say nay to a formal baby shower, unless they are twins or a big gap in years from the first

I say yay to a family party w/ friends too

Technically you don't get a shower for baby #2 BUT if you're close with somebody and its been a while since baby #1 then why not? Either way its up to the hostess.

Re: 2nd baby - throw a shower. yay or nay?

I didn't expect a shower when I had my 2nd baby. My sister told me that a shower was really to welcome a woman to motherhood and that after the first baby you are 'part of the club' and a 2nd shower is inappropriate.

But I got a 2nd shower. Mainly because my best friend new that so much of the stuff I had from the first shower was just no longer useable - or I had given away not realizing I would have another baby again so soon.

My 2nd shower was MUUUUUUUCH smaller because a few people really did feel that it wasn't appropriate to have a 2nd shower. But it was still great.

When my best friend had her 2nd baby I threw her a mommy shower - lighter on the baby gifts,,, heavier on fhe mom gifts.

SO - yeah... yay.
