As some of you know, I've been having some dilemmas (aka, I don't like my gown) but my wedding's 102 days away and I spent $2500 so I'm not going to order a new one...
but,
I was considering buying an additional, simpler sheath gown for the reception so I can move around easier. My current gown is heavy and poofy. Is anyone else doing this?

I'm having one but its more of a going away dress. I'm going to change into it with about an hour of the reception left to go. I'm only getting it because we're leaving on our hm the very next day and i don't want to deal with a big dress.
If you think that you will enjoy the reception more if you change i say get it. I does make a difference for dancing and stuff.

i want to wear my dress all freakin week..haha. But i have been to weddings where the bride changes...actually my friend who is Chinese changed about 3 times. Do whatever will make you enjoy the day more...there are some beautiful off the rack dresses you could get for cheap!

My dress is already kind of slinky, simple and sexy...I specifically told them 'No Pouf!!' I actually went over to the rack after trying on about 10 gigantic dresses and picked mine out myself. Check out Winnie Couture Destination 2007. I paid 1,000 for mine, but I think you can get one for about 600. I tried on simple 'sheath' dresses as well, but they can be just as heavy and complicated as the poufy ones.

I think I might look into it though... and I'm glad to hear I;m not the only one. Maybe something off the rack - that way if I dont change I can return it?

If you have the money, who is to stop you? I say go for it, esp. if you have trouble moving around and want to dance. Its your day....its the only day ever that you get everything you want. If you can afford it, go for it!

For me, I don't see the point in me spending all that money on a bridal dress I've waited my whole life to wear, to just take it off during my wedding day just to put on another expensive dress...JMO

I don't know about waiting my whole life to wear the dress but I totally agree here. I've already spentl this $$ plus I think I'll look amazing so why change. But that's just me.. I've been to weddings where the bride changes into a different dress. Actually alot of latin brides traditionally change into a different dress before leaving the reception.
Hey if you can do it go ahead and make your self happy!! It's your day afterall!! JMO

IMO if wearing another dress for the party will make you happy then GO FOR IT!!!! It's your day and you should enjoy every minute of it. I am considering wearing a dress for the party myself, not because I don't like my gown, but just because I want to be more comfortable at my reception. The reception is the most expensive part of the wedding so I am going to PARTY HARD! Most woman are so in to finally getting to wear a wedding gown that changing for the party is totally not an option for them. However, you have to do what is best for YOU!

first of all... I think your dress is gorgeous!!! But, if you really aren't happy with it and know that you're going to be uncomfortable, I'm sure you can find something that's not too expensive. Good luck!

If money permits, I am so getting a second dress. I love my dress, but honestly is big, its poufy and after being in it for hours, I would like something lighter, sexier and fun. JMO

You really need to do what makes you happy. 'it's just one day' can mean so many different things. It's just one day...so why spend all the money to have two dresses... It's just one day...why not do what you want.
I loooove my dress and I don't think I would want to take it off. HOWEVER, I know that I won't be able to dance as crazy as I would like with it on so I am looking into another dress. I would think about it though... you might get so caught up in the night wearing this beautiful dress and you might not want to change.

I like this one under Winnie Couture Special Occasions..Its in the $381 to $481 range.
Also, you could check out JCrew wedding dresses...they are really simple and relatively inexpensive

I am going to buy a simple white dress and change into it at the end of the evening, after the better part of the guests leave and it is just the crazy and wild people left!!
