We're sending 4 to one house, because 3 people are in our BP. and their parents are also invited. I think it's nice that everyone got an invitation. Some people don't like to bother with details and can't imagine why others would. Other people really appreciate them. Everyone is different. But I don't think you were wrong to send 3 to the same house.

I agree with sending each person their own invite, even if they are under the same roof. I think Emily Post would agree.

I agree, I sent 4 invites to one house...1 for FH's Godparents, and 1 each for his 3 cousins because they are all over 18. It's just proper etiquette.

You're not wrong, that's the way it should have been done.
This woman's biggest issue of the day is too many wedding invitations delivered to her address????

We will be sending 3 to the same house...similar situation...2 older cousins in the early 20's and then my mothers cousin and his wife and their 16year old will be on one

I sent three to the same house as well. All were immediate family members. The parents and the MINOR child got one invitation. The two children over 18 each got their own.
In actuality, if you wanted to truly be formal, you WOULD have your invitations hand delivered as they did in old times. An outer envelope provided the courier to know which address to bring the invitation to (probably on horseback) and was discarded by a servant who presented the inner envelope, complete with titles to the invited guest(s). So tell your FMIL that if she would like to rent you a courier on horseback, you would be glad to have the invitations hand delivered to ALL of your guests GIDDY-UP!

I sent 3 invitations to the same house being that the two children that still live at home are 25 and 28. (I've heard if you're ofer 18 you get your own invite)
anyway the lady who it is called up my FMIL and was like you didn't have to send 3 invites..
sheesh you can never please anyone..
my FMIL told my FI he could have handed her's to her instead of mailing it (they live in NY we live in NJ) I was like hello.. my parents are the ones 'issuing' the invite... so why should I 'hand' it to you.. so what if I want to be formal.
Ironically, if you didnt send all three, she probably would have said something about that too You cant please everyone.....

since i'm going through RSVP nonsense now...i have ppl who have complained to me that when i left it open and asked them to fill the number they dindt' understand i was inviting the entire faimily. i would say to you, you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't.
