Since you have been engaged, how has your personal spending changed? Do you save your entire paycheck and put it in the weddingfund? Do spend your whole check on clothing and partying? How has your money magagment changed?
In the beginning, I was reaaalllyy good about saving money. Like, I didnt buy anything, and just saved all my money. Now, I have more of a balance. I set up a direct transfer from my checking to my wedding savings account every week so I know I will save a minimum amount into that account each week. Sometimes I will have more left over if I am a good girl that month and will put more aside into my regular savings too. Its amazing how fast savings can grow once I set up the automatic transfer a few months ago.

FH pays the rent
I pay all the other bills... I have money taken out of my check that goes into an ING account and money every week that gets automatically debited from my bank and put into ING account...
I barely have anything left after that and I am trying not to spend it... I rarely go out to bars anymore... on the weekends i either do nothing or go to someones house...

My money management has changed drastically. I have not spent ANY money on myself since May that is not wedding related. The only luxury spending is the weekly food shopping... LOL! With the fall/winter coming and losing weight not sure what I am going to do about buying winter clothes because I am afraid to spend with this wedding. I don't take funds and put them into a wedding fund, FH and I take turns paying vendors from our own accts. We have both become very frugal.

We try not to spend as much on little things, and we try to eat home more often rather than going out. We also do a lot of our shopping at Walmart now, for household items and whatnot.
For my job I get an expense check every month. Originally I was using that and putting it towards our joint savings. But then we bought a new car in May, so the expense checks go straight to the car payments now. Anything I have left over from the expense check after the monthly car payment goes to our joint savings.
Oh and since I'm a gift card hoarder, I try to use gift cards and coupons as much as possible. We just went out to dinner at Outback a month ago and used a gift card we got 2 Christmas' ago!!!! I've also got hundreds at Lord & Taylor for when I need to go clothes shopping, and hundreds at BBB for when we re-do the spare bedroom.

Our spending has actually been the same. Except now we will put money towards our joint savings account instead of to our individual savings accounts. In the end, his money is mine and mine is his.

Me and FH haven't really bought anything for ourselves in a while, since we're putting whatever we can from our checks after all the bills are paid. We don't really go out anywhere either since there's no $$ left after we put it in the wedding fund...

god i am horrible-i really havent curbed my spending at all, but the result of that is that my savings isnt growing right now..but on the other hand i start working full time in a few weeks, which means ill be making more than i ever did, so i should be able to save in my personal and wedding savings, and still have enough left over..but honestly the vacations this summer were a bit overboard

we only allow ourselves to go eat once a month, try to eat at home as much as possible. joint our accounts, and I am in charge of that, cause FH has no self control. we had to pay off some debts, so our wedding fund /savings account dwindled but I each month try to put away anywhere from 500-1k away. almost no clothes shopping for the both of us, xpt the very necessary like shoes. I actually lived my life always like this so I am used to it, so I guess for FH this has been a huge change

hmm well fh and i opened a wedding account so we have part of our paychecks going directly into that acct...and we don't use that money for anything but wedding related items.
however...besides that i have been really bad at saving money. Now i am freaking out we are going to come up way short

Re: *<3* QOTD 8/21 *<3*
our wedding expenses are very divided up. my only expenses are band, photo/video, limo, & invites.
a couple of years back i received some money from a car accident that i was in. i put the very small amount into a very high yield interest account & did fairly well. so the money covered deposits for the band, photographer & videographer, limos.
since i only finished college in May, its a real struggle to save money for the balances at this time. i am still paying off my tuition from last semester. my other regular expenses include rent, car insurance, cell phone & a school loan. i currently only use 1 credit card which has a very low limit so i also have that bill. as long as i stay on track with the plan that i have set up everything should work out well.
the only problem comes when we get invited to things we didn't account for in our expenses.

I LOVE that movie!!! lol
The main thing that's changed is I'm being more conscious on how i spend my $ towards food. No more $15 lunches and $10 bfast!
I was never a shopper so that's stayed the same.

Ahh cher..love the picture!! Yeah so my spending was not cut at all..until he was like where does all the money go?? Then I had to tell him that I got this and that for the wedding and he put me on a budget. He actually put our expenses in a spread sheet to show me how much I was spending on not even realizing it..now I splurge just not like back in the day,

I used to spend money 24/7 without really thinking twice......since we got engaged in May, we opened our JT acct and now, 1/2 of my paycheck goes into our JT acct direct deposit so I don't even see it - FH does the same. The remainder goes into my personal acct to pay for my bills.....anything left over, I put back int othe JT acct for the wedding...
We don't go out NEARLY as often and we hardly ever spend money on anything but necessities....the only things we have been buying are things for the wedding or things we will need for our apartment when we move in!

My $$$ habits have not changed since I got engaged. I have always been a pyscho-saver so nothing has changed. I put almost my entire paycheck into savings, only taking $ out for gas. I like starve myself so I can save. It will all be worth it when we get a house though!!

this is a good question. i feel that since ive gotten engaged. whatever is left from my paycheck after bills, etc goes towards our savings.... for the honeymoon, rings, a house eventually. before that i would save watever i could but now ive really cracked down

I don't think my/our spending has changed since the engagement. I think it has changed for other reasons though. We started considering buying a house, and then realized how impossible it was with the amount of student loan debt we both have. Pretty much all of our paycheck money goes to bills. I barely buy myself ANYTHING - I haven't bought a new suit for work in 3 years!!! LOL I hope no one notices...
