3 weeks away and just lost a bridesmaid

One of my bridesmaid who lives in Germany with her husband who is in the military, called yesterday to inform me that she will be unable to come to wedding, let alone be in it. I am not really mad at her because the circumstances are really beyond her control but I do think she could have really told me earlier since I suspect she has known about these 'circumstances' for quite a while. Finding out 3 weeks before your wedding is kind of crappy.

I am really kind of upset by this for several reasons. One is that she is one of my oldest friends and I really wanted her to be here and the other reason is that with her gifts and her dress, FH and I are out about $400 with her not being in the wedding and FH is really ticked about it. I know that is kind of petty but it just really *****.

That sinks....but I am sure that if she could be there she would. I know this sounds weird but is there anyone else that is her size that would be able to 'fill-in' for her? That way the dress and the gift doesn't go to waste.

Oh nooo :( That stinks but at the same time I'm glad you are trying to be understanding.

Have you thought about having another friend or reader or someone step up who could wear the dress? If you are worried about it...I've seen it happen before and the person is usually honored and glad to step up!

Thanks guys! I thought about asking someone else but then I decided not to. I think it would be like saying they were second choice. Plus there is no way the person would have time to get alterations on the dress and get shoes.
