3 yr old in wedding? (if you have a minute to read)

3 yr old in wedding? (if you have a minute to read)

We are not having any kids at our wedding, however the only kids will be the ones that are in the BP, which are my niece who will be 6 at the time, and nephew 8. I wanted it simple and strictly immediate family, which means 2nd cousins not included..at least for the BP, which makes it easier..
FH does not have a niece/nephew yet, but I have the above mentioned plus a 3 yr old boy. Actually he'll be 3 1/2 for the wedding. Up till now I didn't want him to be in it b/c I thought he'll be too much too handle, esp in the reception. I didn't want him to be running all around and have to have my brother and SIL control him all night. But all in all I would really like him there for the reason that his bro and sis are, and just cuz I feel bad..plus the fact that they're coming in from PA and they would have to get a sitter and I don't get to see them as often as I'd like, etc..I am waiting to see how much he'll change by then..
For those who've had this age in the wedding, how were they all night?

Our flower girl was 2 1/2. She was great in the wedding - just adorable - as well as during pictures (kept saying 'peas,' which cracked our photographer up). She behaved very well during the reception, although her dad (our BIL) had to leave early to put her to bed. Her mom (my SIL) stayed and had a great time.

I know, that's how I am feeling. I guess if you can have em that young in there then I shouln't worry about age 3.

We had a 2 year old part of the cermony- which he didn't patricipate because he fell asleep, and part of all the pictures, and cocktail hour. But a babysitter came and picked him up before the reception. Everyone was happy including the parents, they got to enjoy the wedding.

That's another thing. What happens when they conk out? I wouldn't want my family to have to leave If I had an afternoon wedding it'd be NP.

I think it depends on the child's temperment - how does he act in normal situations?

I have been to weddings with kids that age and they for the most part are well behaved. They usually become the life of the party when they get on the dance floor. They conk out at some point and parents just put two chairs together up against a wall to keep them from falling.

LOL. He's right now actually a bully! He fight with big sis and bro.
my brother told him he was a bully, now he, Jacob goes and tells everyone he's a bully
But I am worried about him egging on sis and bro. Well maybe I can take untamed's advice and have him picked up after ceremony. I'll get my brother's opinions and like I said see what happens in the next 6 months.

well tell them to have a stroller with them...keep it in the car....this way if the baby falls asleep they can rest in their stroller...

You're right. I'm sure he can fall asleep sitting next to their table. He can probably even dance in the beginning...shake his baby booty.. He'll get a lot of attention in his little tux

Bella, Only you know how your nephew is!
I knwo alot of people had younger childern in their wedding with out incident but every child is different.
We have decided not to have our neice and nephew walk down teh aisle because at 3 and 2.5 years old, knowing their personalities, as much as we love them they are just too much of a risk really. I can just imagine one of them freaking out for whatever reason, throwing a temper tandrum and lying on the ground crying. Thats the age they are at right now.
These kids mean more to us than just about anything and we really want them to be in the wedding so we are having them dress the part, take pictures with us, just not walk down the aisle. This way they are with their parents and comfortable the whole time. They are also invited to the reception. I dont want alot of kids running around either but I am trusting their parents to make the logical decision as to what to do with them.
Personally, if you are inviting your other neice and nephew I would invite the little one. I knwo that my brother has said my neice and 1 year old nephew will only be there for a short tiem and then their grandparents will pick them up (they want to enjoy the wedding too) whereas my other SIL will have her son their the whole time. To me its their choice.

Really depends on the kid. I had my 3 year old cousin as ring bearer and he was EXCELLENT. Walked down the aisle and back great, we just put a lollypop in his mouth and he was VERY GOOD LOL. At the reception he played and danced with the 5 other kids we had there, 3 of which were 3 and under and it was fine...

Thanks Kelly and krwm - like I said earlier he is in the bully stage now, but I actually think being in the spotlight he will love, including walking down the aisle. It's hard for me to judge also b/c I don't see him too often. I need to have a long talk with my bro
And hearing how everyone elses youngens were involved, it's more assurance for me

Unless he is really shy, I think its fine. He can walk with the older kids, so he will be fine.

And very cute

My cousin wil be almost 4 for my wedding and the flower girl will be 3. They will be so CUTE My sister just had her wedding last week (friday0 and had the same boy (our cousin) as her ring bearer. He is 3 1/2 right now. He was the star of the wedding. When he walked down the aisle... OMG you would nt believe how cute! He did a great job because we made him practice down the hallway! And he was the best dancer at the reception! He actually fell asleep before the reception ended. I couldnt imagine my wedding without him!
Look!
