3 yr old in wedding? (if you have a minute to read)
Original post by BellaBella
We are not having any kids at our wedding, however the only kids will be the ones that are in the BP, which are my niece who will be 6 at the time, and nephew 8. I wanted it simple and strictly immediate family, which means 2nd cousins not included..at least for the BP, which makes it easier.. FH does not have a niece/nephew yet, but I have the above mentioned plus a 3 yr old boy. Actually he'll be 3 1/2 for the wedding. Up till now I didn't want him to be in it b/c I thought he'll be too much too handle, esp in the reception. I didn't want him to be running all around and have to have my brother and SIL control him all night. But all in all I would really like him there for the reason that his bro and sis are, and just cuz I feel bad..plus the fact that they're coming in from PA and they would have to get a sitter and I don't get to see them as often as I'd like, etc..I am waiting to see how much he'll change by then.. For those who've had this age in the wedding, how were they all night?

ooh! It's not even a ? anymore...he's in!! julz - nice picture That's what I'm envisioning Jacob to be - the star of the wedding, well besides me and FH I am now thinking of having him be the RB, and my 8 yr old nephew now be a jr usher... and I am sure they will all prolly wind up falling asleep. We'll make sure there are blankets so they can lay down in the corner

IMO a 3 year old will be difficult. If you REALLY want to do it, go for it. (or if the child is really well behaved) I'm sure you know moods kids that young can snap into at a moments notice.

Our caterer suggested bringing in a small TV/VCR combo and after an hour of dancing or whatever putting the little ones in the bridal suite with a hired sitter or someone the parents are comfortable with. I don't know if my daughter will go with this idea, or if she wants to hand over the bridal suite to the kids, but it is a suggestion that I'm sure some people use.
