30th b-day gift ideas

My brother in law is turning 30 this weekend and his fiance is having a HUGE surprise party for him.
Can anyone suggest any gift ideas? (We want to stay away from gift cards if possible)

ALso, he is the godfather to our youngest daughter, should we give him a little gift from her or have her make something for him as a gift?

I'm not really a big fan of giving cash as gifts, unless it's for a child. Certainly not your brother.

I got my DH Tiffany's cuff-links for his 30th. Does your brother have any hobbies?

I wouldn't give cash either. For my DH's 30th he got some great gifts including tckts baseball tickets, Jon Stewart tickets, GC to some really nice resteraunts, lots of micro brewed beers.

How about a GC to a very nice steak house?

What about a portable DVD player?

My godson made me Christmas ornaments when he was about 3. I still put them on my tree every year and it reminds me of him at that age -although as he gets older, he is more critical of his artwork I like it because it was a special gift made just for me.

Another thing I have had my niece & nephew make as a gift for my sister is picture frames. Michael's of A.C. Moore have these small frames with a white border that you can paint on. We got glue pens and eack child put a design on the frame. If you had her do that and put a photo of her or of the 2 of them, that would be a special gift from her as well.

I discussed the suggestions with my husband (since it's for his brother) and we decided on baseball tickets. He is a big baseball fan.

I think he will love it. We went to one game already (philly vs. atlanta) and have another in sept (mets vs. atlanta).

My hubby is an Atlanta Braves fans.

Plus we had really good seats.
