30th B-Day party

It's a little early, but I want to throw my hubby a 30th B-Day party. I'm thinking a few months in advance cuz I have no clue what I should do. Anyone have any suggestions?

My FH is turning 30 this Friday! He and I and 8 of his friends are going to the Met game. We are tailgaiting beforehand. We may go out in the city after if he wants to.

I also got him a Movado watch. Sorry I am not too much help!

Re: 30th B-Day party

i threw a 30th birthday party for my husband at a restaurant. i invited his close friends, a few of my friends, his immediate family and my immediate family. we werent married yet so it was good to get the families and friends together. it was great because he said he never had someone do anything nice like that for him.

other suggestions is getting him sports tix, dinner and a night in the city, a broadway play if he likes it, make a 30th brithday basket with tons of goodies...

Alot of my friends have done bar or dinner parties - always fun.

For DH's surprise 30th, I rented the penthouse suite in the Mayflower hotel in the city. It is huge and has a wrap around balcony overlooking the city. I brought in my own food and alcohol (it is like an apartment and you have a kitchen and living room, dining room, etc. - although they say you have to cater from them - I didn't) and had a big party - over 30 friends - he loved it! Then we got to stay overnight in the city. Just have to be careful your guests are careful and but the breakable things on high shelves.

For my 30th, DH rented a house in the Poconos and had all my friends come as a surpise. It rained the whole weekend so we didn't do much outdoors but it was a great getaway weekend - esp since a lot of my friends have kids and don't getaway much...We brought our own food and drink and hung out. The house had 4-5 bedrooms, hot tub, etc.

i booked a suite at a hotel that had a bar downstairs..i had a bunch of his friends join us for drinks at the bar and then we didn't have to worry about driving home because we went right upstairs..i think he enjoyed himself and i had a nice time too..

These all sound like great ideas. Anyone have any suggestions on resturants that have party rooms that are reasonably priced per person? If I don't do a resturant thing, I may just have something catered at my house.

That penthouse thing sounds great, but once his friends get drunk, it's all over. They'll probably want to spend the night with us!!

LOL I wish my FW was doing something like this for me. The only thing I am getting for my 30th bday next month from my FW is a bunch of 'you're getting old... your turning 30' remarks.
