3pm or 6 pm church time

3pm or 6 pm church time

My cocktail hour starts at 7:00. The church is about 10 minutes from the hall. I can either have a 3:00 wedding of a 6:00 wedding. The 4:30 is taken. What do you think I should do? Push it for the 6 or have it at 3 and have the people back at my parents house. I'm also scared the church will be empty at 3. Let me know what you think.

I would do 3 pm. This way you aren't rushed. What if the ceremony is delayed ...? You will have time in between to relax, and take pictures....go for 3 :)

I'm assuming you're having a ceremony only, but I still think you and your guests will be making a mad dash from church to reception hall if you go with the 6PM. You figure by the time you do the receiving line (if you do one), people throw stuff at you, the photog takes some pics etc. I don't think one hour is enough for all that and god forbid you are late to church for any reason and therefore get a late start. I would definitely go with the 3PM.

The last wedding I went to the bride was twenty minutes late for church because her car was late getting to her house! You never know what might happen.

I would say 3. The latest my church had was 230 and my Cocktail starts at 7. I think that its better to have more then a half hour in between.

3pm would be your best bet, so you have ample time to take pictures

3PM on a Friday with a 3 hour lag between ceremony and reception? If you do that plan on not having everyone at your ceremony. I'd do the pictures before and have the ceremony at 6.

I would do 3pm. You have to count on less people being at you church anyway because it is a Friday. ( Mine is too! ) So people are going to need time to get home from work and get ready. I was worried about the same thing until FH said to me ' As long as I see you walking down that aisle about to become my wife, I ould care less who is at the church.' So my point is the day is about you & your man. Not about how many people make the church. So take it all in and do not stress the small things!

Because you are getting married on a Friday, I would go for the 6. Otherwise, you probably won't have too many people at your ceremony. If it was a Sat. or Sun., I'd say go for the 3 and leave lots of time for pics. But this time I agree with taking your pics before or missing the cocktail hour and taking your pics then.
Good luck with your decision.

Don't stress Debbie! Breathe! Breathe!

From a guests prespective, I'd say 6, I hate the lag time between ceremony and reception. Anyway your hall can push the cocktail hour to 7:15 or 7:30? It doesn't hurt to ask!
Try not to worry about who will show up for the ceremony. If it's important to them, they will be there. If not, well, you know what they say!

Tough decision, good luck!

I would also do 3. I think 6 is rushing everything too much and not leaving room for anything unexpected that comes up.

Re: 3pm or 6 pm church time

Okay guys,,,,,,,,,decision time. I'm going with the 3. Thanks for all your feedback. I know that the church won't get a big crowd, but I agree that if I have it at 6, it won't get a big crowd either. My mom is having everyone back at her house in between, and a bunch of people are staying at the Hilton so they could come to the church in casual clothes and then go back to the hotel to relax and get ready for the reception. I think I wouldn't be relaxed if the church time was at 6. It would be on my mind all day 'what if the limo is late, what is the ceremony in front of mine runs over'. And I do want to enjoy some of my cocktail hour. I'm okay with not too many people coming to the church. ST. Rose is HUGE, even if a lot of people did come, it would still look empty. And I will get some relax time also in between. Thanks for all of your opinions. Will you guys all come to my cermony at 3 pm?? Just kidding!
