4th of July Brides look at this!
Here is a blog for I hate weddings website! Really nice! Too bad for that jerk, cause my godfather works for grucci, soi will have nice fireworks that night!
July 4th Wedding
I got invited to my friend Bruce's wedding on July 4, 2006.
July 4th! Do you know that's the same date as the Fourth of July? Why not just write 'Go F*** Yourself' on the invitations?
He and his new fiancée sent out 'Save The Date' invitations this September. I have plans on July 4, 2006. I plan to get drunk and play with fireworks. In fact, those are my plans for 2006, 2007, 2008 and pretty much up until 2041.
It's ok though. I plan to get back at Bruce. When the bride and groom share their first dance, I plan to launch M-80s.
If it turns out M-80s are illegal in the state of Massachusetts I'll just RSVP 'only if it's raining.'
Why the Fourth of July? What's the matter Bruce? Couldn't you get the hall on Christmas?

It's unbeleivable how gutsy people can be.
Holidays are intended for EVERYONE to enjoy--not to be hijacked by a dumb wedding. Now instead of being able to do what you want to do, you have an OBLIGATION to attend to--so your Independence Day sort of becomes like another work day, another obligation day.
PS: M-80s are illegal throughout the US.

You are kidding right? Uh, here's an idea...don't go to the wedding. If that's your attitude then they are better off not having you in attendance. Yeah, I'm glad I don't have a friend like you!

Uhhh, that's the point.
Who is ruder? The friend that makes their wedding on a holiday weekend?
It is really bad when things like this are planned for those weekend. It is a shade worse when they are either planned in the middle of a long weekend or on the day of the holiday itself.
And it is just plain stupid to complain to a comedian that is blogging on a website how much he hates when people do this. Is he just supposed to smile and go with it?
Come on!

How presumptuous!
That would be like participating in a fast during the Super Bowl.
Totally unrealistic.

OK, I admit, I was one of the rude brides who planned a July 4, 1998 wedding. There was logic in the planning: Buffalo isn't a mecca for Independence Day celebrations and the long weekend was convenient for the 125 guests, primarily from out of town. Whether they attended or not was their choice.
But, perhaps that's why it rained on my outdoor wedding and I got a bit upset when my now ex-husband asked the bartender to dance because 'she was cute.' Spent the wedding night on the floor of my childhood room in my parent's house because he had passed out. But, my mom gave me words of encouragement: 'well, at least you had lived together so you're not missing out on much.'
These days, Independence Day has bittersweet meaning for me :)
