$500 tip for the MD???

Were the same RH
My BM told me $125 for the bridal attendant and $500 for the matrd. But i think im only giving him $400. That 500 was more of a suggestion not a requirement!

I think the bm tip is included in the contract price b/c he also gets a cut for you booking there.

Tip what you feel is appropriate. But by all mean, argue if they want to put in on the contract.

My RH wanted to put it in the contract and I made them take it off.

But yes, a $3-$5 tip is appropriate. It really depends on the number of people you are having and the price per head. And of course, how happy you are with their service at the end of the night.

That's about right. But I totally agree its ridiculous. I don't think its right that they tell you how much you have to tip. I know a MD does a lot (or at least I think they do) but come on who gets paid $500 for one night's worth of work. It's their job. Rant over :)

It's not one night's worth of work. Your BM will finalize everthing for you. They will make sure your tables are set up. The will meet with you those last few weeks to go over all the details. They will spend time coordinating the wedding before you arrive. I don't think $500 is unreasonable. Especially because they don't make alot of money from the RH itself.

The MD is for one night's worth of work. The BM is the one I will be finalizing everything with not the MD. I can see giving the BM $500 because there is a lot of interaction over a long period of time but the MD is the one who makes sure your reception runs smoothly the day of the wedding. At least that is what I was told at my RH.

Its right, BUT the house usually takes a % of it the MD never gets the full tip( I worked in catering) I actually have never heard of tipping your BM unless they where also your MD.

Well I used to be a bridal attendant at Leonards and this is what they did. The BM basically does everything before the wedding. The MD you only meet when you arrived and they oversee the whole party, supervise wait staff, bartenders, etc. They take care of all the timing of the wedding. The bridal attendants are there as soon as you come and do not leave until you do They also set up the bridal suite, take pics with you, basically whatever they needed we did. In my opinion we did more work then the MDs did. Leonards also takes 60% of the tip that the MD receives.

Each hall is different. I was dealing with the same person throughout my planning and he took care of me the day of.

IMO you definitely should tip the bridal attendant. This is the person that will make your day so easy from the minute you walk in the RH to the minute you leave. Mine was at my side anytime I needed her but was not in your face all the time. There was always a drink waiting for me at the table and made sure I went home with everything I brought to the RH.

I've worked at a Catering hall. Depending on the hall, the MD keeps a percentage of what you give him, the rest goes to the house. If you give MD money for the waiters, they may not get it. I would advise giving everyone their own tips individually. Never heard of giving to the BM.

The 20% service change is going to staff.

Me too I have never met the MD so now I feel bad giving him all the money when the BM did all the work and I have a wedding planner. This is confusing. My wedding is tomorrow HELP!!!!

Yep sounds right, ours was paid before the wedding day. Plus I tipped them the day of.

All I have to say is tipping was something I didn't include in my budget originally and I spent a lot of $$ tipping people.
