What is the longest you and your FI have ever spent apart?
I know we have a few brides on here who have long distance relationship and thought maybe if we all shared and also mentioned some ways that helped us get through it, it could help everyone!
The longest for us was when I went to Italy for a month buttt we weren't officially dating yet so it prob doesnt exactly count. It still was hard though especially with us both feeling unsure as to where we would be when I got back. Besides that I'd say about 2 weeks. I know it's not much to those who have to wait months but it still wasn't easy. Plus he lives in LI and I'm in SI so it can get a little frustrating when we have serious stuff to discuss and don't want to do it over the phone, I can't just drive around the block to see him. However, no real complaints here, I know some brides on here wish they could get to their FH's by car instead of boat or plane, so hang in there!!
Oh and what helps me get through is (may sound weird but..) I pretend he is there cuddling with me at night and lots of phone calls and texts of course! Okay answer away!

I think 2 weeks, eventhough before living together we would only see each other on the weekends, we've gone on vacation without the other, he has gone to Lake George with his friends and I went to Florida (Disney) with my family

a few summers ago FH went backpacking in Europe for almost a month with some of his friends. That was the longest we were apart and it was also difficult bc we couldnt even talk on the phone very much.
besides that...fh and i broke up for like a month and a half like three years ago but thats a different story..

10 miserable days. I had to go to my home country for my BFF's wedding, and he couldn't come cause the tkts were so effing expansive It didn't bring us closer, was very weird after I came back cause we have just moved in together 2 weeks before I had to go...

Ummmmm I think 4 or 5 days, but that was in the begining and I was miserable. Now when he goes upstate sometimes on the weekends, I am like GOOOOOOOOOOOO, ahhhhh silence.

Jenna I'm so glad you asked this at the tail end of my long distance relationship or I'd be in tears before work lol.
The longest we've spent apart has been 6-7 weeks. We've only done that separation a couple of times because it REALLY wears on me and towards the end I get cranky and cry all the time and shout about how life isn't fair haha. THANK GOD his parents invited me and mine out in June, or I would see him this weekend and then I wouldn't have seen him again until the middle of July and I REALLY would have wanted to hurt someone.
ETA: I forgot to say how we get through it. I suppose it helps a little that its all we've ever known, but we talk every single day, usually more than once. He'll call me when he gets out of work, then sometimes I'll call him when I get out of work, once FSD is in bed he calls me again on the phone or we talk over Skype (video chat). I have a small wardrobe of his and a bottle of his cologne to spray on it, and I have a stuffed baby penguin we bought together on my birthday and sometimes he gets sprayed too When its really bad things like that help me sleep.

Physically a week. I vacationed to Disney and Vegas the first summer we were together so he didn't come. Then another week when I went to Vegas again, and no boys allowed....
Apart though has a little different meaning for me. When FH got in his car accident he was in a coma for 10 days, and in the hospital for 2 months. For about 5 or6 weeks of those 2 months he couldn't really communicate and wasn't really 'there' .....so it felt like we were apart even though I was by his side everyday.
Good question though... kinda brought a tear to my eye which hasn't happend over this situation in a really long time...
Awww. That is so sweet that you were there for him during that time though. I'm glad you were able to move past it.
I think I might have the longest amount of time. We spent 3 months apart when I was teaching in Japan. It was hard but teaching abroad was one of the best experiences of my life. I couldn't trade it.

omg it was this past summer when i went to greece fro a wedding. it was 5 days. which was no big deal..but i was too embarassed to use my aunts phone to call him.. so i went out n bought soo many calling cards.. but no1 knew the code to call the states.. i couldnt get thru to any1!! and once i figured out what to dial, all these other foreigners were tying up the phones for HOURS.
i went online at my cousins wifes house and got to email fh to tell him what was going on.
the next day i had a freakin breakdown. i was soo angry the only payphone available wasnt working. i ended up smashing it then went bak to the house and started crying. my aunt yelled at me for not using her fone. shes like 'wats wrong with u! i told u to use it!' but i duno i felt bad lol
i felt soo lonely. touring athens alone. NEVER AGIN

3 weeks it was over the past xmas nye holiday...longest ever :( and we were in totally different time zones which meant we barely talked ....it was hard

I am apart from FH 5 days a week since he lives in CT. This has been the situation since we started to date. It has been a blessing because it only makes us love each other more and more IMO. It will just make it that much specialier when we get married. We get through the week just calling each other before and after I get out of work and text messages. It ***** but Friday's are the best. But Monday's I ususally cry I hate leaving FH.

The longest is probably 3 weeks during college or something. But the longest without talking was TORTURE!!!! I went to Italy for a week and we had no way to contact eachother. He told me after that he would go to my room and smell my pillow. Kinda creepy but sooooo cute.!

Sorry.... sorry... I won't do it again... it's hard not to though it happend 4 months after being together basically our whole relationship has been moving on and healing... thanks for the love though girlies...

Thank you and you are both very strong too... 3 months is a long time to go without someone you love... Glad you had the experience though that sounds amazing
