We went to a wedding in 8/2005 and just now got our thank you cards. What is the normal time span that a thank you should be recived??

Re: 6 months for a thank you??
I think any more than 2 months after the wedding is ridiculous. We went to a wedding in August and didn't get our TY note until December...I thought that was a really long time.
I plan on doing my TYs the weekend after we get back from our HM...I know they take a long time, but I just don't see any reason for delaying them so long.

Re: 6 months for a thank you??
It depends on if wedding photos are included (inside or on the actual card). If the photographer takes 3 - 6 months to get the couple the photos, it will take 4 - 7 months to mail out the cards (assuming time to order them and get them printed).
I'm pretty sure couples have 1 year to mail out thank you cards just like guests have up to 1 year to send a gift.

I have to disagree, I don't think anything more than 2 months is ridiculous!
There are a few factors involved (you're getting married soon, you'll see!)
I got married in November, and I'm still writing out my TY's.
First - We didn't get the cards from our photog. until about a month and a half after the wedding.
Second - We then had to wait for our proofs so we could choose a picture for the insert in the card.
Third - We had to wait to get the TY pics after we choose them (in fact we just got them last week)
And finally - We had a HUGE wedding (300 people attended, and almost 200 that didn't) So that's close to 500 people. So I have a little more than 200 thank you's to write, in between settling into our new house, working full time, etc..... We're coming up on 3 months being married and I have a little more than half my cards written out.
So, I don't think anything more than 2 months is ridiculous. I think many past brides will agree.
JMHO.
ETA: I my GOAL is to have my cards in the mail by the beginning or middle of March. Which I think is perfectly acceptable.

Re: 6 months for a thank you??
I still have to send out some more thank you's because it took a few months for the photographer to get them to us. After picking the pic we wanted as the card (still had to wait for the proofs also) and waiting for the cards to be ready, and then the holidays came while we were waiting for them to be ready...I hope people understand why they take a while...

Re: 6 months for a thank you??
I sent mine out at 6 months, which was very late I know, but there were contributing factors to the lateness...one very important reason was because DH got a virus on our computer and I lost everyone's address!
Etiquette allows for you to send your TYs by 3 months..

I went to a wedding in 9/04 and 8/05 still waiting on thank you's
My cousin sent hers out within 10 weedk of her wedding- I think it depends on your photographer. I know mine told me that my proofs will be ready for p/u when we get back from out HM

Re: 6 months for a thank you??
I am planning to get mine out as soon as possible. Its understandable the certain delays when you want to include a picture. My theorectical goal is to slowly write out the thank yous until the pictures arrive and then all i have to do is add picture and then mail. That's my plan anyway.
I went to a shower last January and a wedding last February and I got both Thank You cards this past December. I thought that was a little crazy to get my shower thank you so late, those you shoudl be able to do right away.

Re: 6 months for a thank you??
you do have a point that if you have over 300 guest that will take some time
But if its a small wedding it should not take anylonger then 6 mon

I always though it to be 2-3 months following the wedding.
