FH just told me he found a videographer he likes- for $6,000. I told him absolutely not. Am I crazy or is that way too much money?

Re: $6,000 for video?
$6,000?? Is Steven Speilberg directing it?? I was just doing prices all last week. I DID see one for $6,000 BUT that was the highest package by that company $2,000 was their base price. I got 6 quotes & they ranged from $2,000 - $700 for 1 camera.

That's absurd!!!! We're looking for photo/video now, and in most cases, that's what it costs for both photo and video!!!!

That's alot for video. I looked at 7 different vendors and the most expensive ones were about $3,000.

Re: $6,000 for video?
I am usually the one who says, if you can afford it, DO IT so I'll say it again. If you can afford it, do it. It is nobody's business to judge what you spend on what. HOWEVER...I assure you that you MIGHT watch your video MAYBE a few times as soon as you get it (for yourselves and family) and then maybe once a year on your anniversary. If it bothers you to spend that much money on video, phrase it that way to your FH. Still life pictures, on the other IMO. You can flip through an album much faster and much more frequently than you would to sit down and watch a video. The moments captured in still life tell a much different story.

Re: $6,000 for video?
Insane, do not spend that much.. If you are going to spend that much spend it on the photography. I think that is way overpriced and think about how often you are going to watch a dvd of your wedding. I think the photographs are something more you are going to share .. I am just having a friend of mine handle a camera..
