7 replies back, and I already have a dilema!!!!!

OK, so today I came home from work to see 7 replies in the mail!!!! I was so excited! Well, when we opened them, we got a big surprise....My Dad's cousin (who we really only invited because we went to their wedding about a year ago, and felt it was only right to invite them) replied, with a Mr, Mrs, and Jr! We only invited the Mr and Mrs!!!! Jr is only about 10 yrs old, and we aren't having kids at the wedding.....we also are really close to our Max head count, we were planning on people not coming to be able to seat everyone, and now we are getting people added to our list!!!!!! I don't know what to do....it's not like we talk to them on a regular basis, so it would be weird to call and say something I think.......HELP!!!!!!

Maybe your dad can call for you so you dont have to feel bad....
I was nervous about people replying with kids at first (even though its so far away!) but we decided to have kids anyways... To avoid this trouble!
Im not sure what to do in this situation.. Sorry!

maybe your parents can speak to them, or to their parents and explain that situation. Jr's name wasn't on the invite b/c he's not invited! Sorry you have to go through that. I'm fearing that happening with some of our guests

Ask good 'ole dad to do the dirty work lol If he refuses, call them and let them know that you regret to tell them that they were both invited minus the little one....they'll find a babysitter, don't worry!

I really don't understand people sometimes. I would ask my dad to call and explain that it is an adult reception. Good luck!

I wish it were as easy as saying it is Adults Only, but I am actually having 2 kids there (16 and 14) they are like children to me, so I invited them. I think if I say it is Adults Only they will be affended when they see the other two

YAY For the replys....

I also don't understand why people do this. If it doesn't say and family or the persons name i don't get why people think it is acceptabel to bring their children or *** people to the RSVP's. I would definitely have someone call.

this is always a tough situation....ask dad to do it!

and 14 & 16 are more on the adult side than 10..............so maybe you can still use the adult only reception thought?

I would have dad call and do the dirty work of telling them that Jr isn't invited- also if not then call and politely explain that it's an adult only reception even if you invited those two other kid/teenager.

You poor thing... to have the excitement of your first responses turned into stress. Try not to worry too much, and like others have said, let your father handle things. It's every bride's nightmare, I think!

I agree with what everyone else said about having your dad mention an age cut off. It might also help to mention what you said about the room only holding so many and you are at the max. Sorry this happened to you. For my friends wedding no extra children showed up but people brought guests when a +1 wasn't invited. That was just as uncomfortable.

I agree that your dad should call and politely tell them that you're not having kids at the wedding. They should understand.

I think it's fair to say that you can tell them that you are having children at the wedding.. nor was he invited.. People can be out right rude and you need to stick to your guns. If you really can;t afford it nor do you want children there then just simply tell them. Nicely,, that you wish he could spend the day with you but it;s just not in your budget.. I am sure they will understand! WOW! Is this what I have to look forward to ! LOL~!

I agree with all who said to ask dad to call. One of FH's second cousins emailed him after he got the save the date to ask if his 3 year old and 7 year old are invited. It was a little less awkward because we were able to reply via email, but we basically told him that while we would love for his children to come, we have many close friends and family with young children, and we simply do not have the budget or space to invite them all. If we made an exception for him, others would be offended.
I wouldn't worry about the teenagers, they are a different category than children.
