We planned ours for 9/11/2004 we wanted to make a good day of it, unfortunately we had to cancel because of problems with the hall, out list grew too big and they are unable to cater for that many people. If you know anyone interested in getting married on that day.....please FM me, i'll send you the details.
A friend of mine was telling me yesterday that she priced a hall for 9/11 to hold formal party (not a wedding but along the same lines) and was quoted almost half of what they were charging the week before and after. They couldn't do it b/c they knew the date would not be a good idea for everyone invited.
FH and I strongly considered getting married on 9/11 but he felt more strongly against it that I would have thought. His uncle was involved in the 9/11 rescue and is very sensitive about the date. FH is very close to his uncle and we decided together that our wedding was about happy family and it didn't matter what day it was. FH's parents asked that we consider the 18th as well and that is just where we ended up. Without sounding preachy (I hope) I am SO proud of the 9/11 brides - they are taking a day of tragedy and making it into something beautiful, and what better way to honor those we lost.

i have a friend who is getting married on her father's birthday because he died a few years back, so she picked that date to make sure he was there with her and to let him know that she remembers him..
Thank you for your support! My FH and I have that day simply because we got about 40% off what it usually costs there and were dead set on a Saturday night wedding, but they are so expensive. I also believe it's in the ' don't let the terrorists ruin our lives spirit' As for being respectful to those affected , we plan on having something done to show our respect for those involved that day. We will probably have a prayer for them and their families in the ceremony or a moment of silence somewhere in the day.
