Don't have a date or a place - but 9/11 obviously is open everywhere....It is also cheaper for a lot of things.....It's 10 year anniversary...Is it terrible to get married on this date?

Re: 9/11 Wedding
i dont think its tacky
i just wouldn't want my wedding day to be associated with such a horrible day in history
it depends on how you feel about it...are you OK with your wedding being remembered year after year, that the twin towers were attacked that day? I couldn't deal
that said....if it doesnt bother you, you will prob get a great deal lots of places mentioned it as a discounted day when we went looking, especially the lessings places

I don't think it's tacky, but I couldn't do it. I have way to many people in my family who are FDNY and NYPD.

I lost a lot of people as well....It's my mom's birthday and a day after mine - so I TRY not to think about it - she sounds optimistic about it....don't know

i don't think it's tacky at all... I'm sure people get married on D-Day, Pearl Harbor day (12/7) and Memorial Day...

Re: 9/11 Wedding
fh is fdny and we have alot of people who have been effected by it, and we could never feel right about celebrating on a day that so many people lost loved ones.

Not tacky but I feel like it's still too fresh in people's memory... Everyone associate 9/11 to WTC, so it would just feel weird to get married on that day.

Re: 9/11 Wedding
No way I could do it... I think it is disrespectful...
Many places where I went told me 9/10 was Open, I said 'NO WAY'.... It will be the 10th yr anniversary of a horrible tragedy, YET i will be having the party of my life... Nop... I dont have the heart to do it...
and Yes, I do think its BAD to do it....

I dont think its bad at all. But there are many who do so you have to think about that when inviting people.
But I couldnt do it for the reasons people said already.

Re: 9/11 Wedding
I would not do it on the 10 year anniversary. People are going to be talking about how they can't believe it's been ten years, where they were that day etc. Depressing cocktail hour and dinner conversions for sure. Any other year wouldn't be bad but I wouldn't do it in 2011

Re: 9/11 Wedding
I dont think its tacky, we actually went to one this year on 9/11. Would I do it? personally, no, FH is FDNY and that day means a lot to him. (and me as well). A lof of our friends are FDNY and NYPD, and I really dont think they would like it much either honestly.
He actually didn't want to get married in September at all next year because it would be September of 2011 (9/11)
