9/3/08 Name Change Poll

Re: 9/3/08 Name Change Poll

I just don't know....My middle name was given for my god mother who has since passed away and I love my maiden name. FH said I should keep my name if I want. However, when his brother was married and his sil did not change her name right away, he got annoyed..now he says it is different because it is me. FSIL replaced her middle name w/ her maiden name.

I always wanted to take the new name when I got married because I never liked my name growing up since I always got made fun of... But as its getting closer to it, and the fact that I dont like FHs last name I really dont want to. I've tried to talk him into take his Moms maiden name which is McBride... I love that last name But he said no.. I mentioned hypenating it just for legal reasons but go by the new last name and he's kinda offended, so Idk what i'm going to do.

I took DH's last name. I figure it'll be easiest once we have children, and my name sounds good with his last name. :)

I am going to take my FH's last name and make my maiden name my middle name. I never had a middle name so this was an easy decision for me!

same for me...no middle name so i think im just going to make my last name my middle name and take fh's last name as my own.

originally i was just going to take his name but now im sad to think i would lose mine

I still think you should take your two last names and cmobine them into one. Denusky would be a cool last name!

I'm taking his last name. I never really thought about not taking it. Although I have thought about the hyphen. But when it comes to kids I couldn't imagine note sharing the same last name as my family.

I am taking his name and dropping my maiden last name entirely (I don't have a middle name and don't want one).

I can understand women who do the hyphenation or keep their maiden names, but I just want the same last name as my kids (and I don't want them to be hyphenated).

me and FH made an agreement. We can raise the kids jewish if I take his last name. Sounded fair enough.

I am taking his name. I don't really like my last name - it's always misprounced, misspelled, and rhymes with too many things that kids get made fun of for I would hate to pass that on to my children in any way. It sounds horrible hyphenated, and I love my middle name, so I am not doing that either. I'll be Jennifer Booth and I cannotttttttt wait. Both for the idea of BEING Mrs. Booth and being married, and for losing my last name.

i took his last name, and kept my maiden name as my 2nd middle name, so i'm tina marie maiden married. he was all for me hyphenating, but i wanted us all to have the same last name when we have children.

I struggled and struggle with this even though I've made the decision to completely change my name to FH's.

I have a very Latino last name and FH's is a polish last name. I love my last name and I've had it for the last 32 years of my life...so it's hard to let go. I did decided to takes FH's name legally but I will use my last name hyphenated with his for work purposes, though all my legal documents will be changed to his last name.

Professionally, I didn't want to lose my current last name. FH really wanted me to take his last name and he threw a big stink about a hyphenated name. So I am just adding his name to mine as it currently exists. I usually don't use my current middle name, just an initial, so I will continue to use the intial, my current last name and then tack his on too. My business card is going to be crazy!

didn't change my name, not really planning to... don't see why I need to... DH does not care either way, and if we have a kid it'll have his last name. And if people call us Mr and Mrs his last name that's fine with me too. I don't see the need to go through the legal hassle - on the marriage license it said just b/c you put a new surname down does not mean it's legally changed and you can use whatever name you want as long as it's without the intent to defraud.

i did put his name on the ML but only b/c if I change my mind in the future I'd have to go to court and have it legally changed to his name then - HUGE PITA.

but it's nice and easy not worrying about name changing

Actually it's not that hard to go back and change it. If you never took his name and later wanted to change it to his name all you have to do is go fillout a new license and it will be an amendment to the original. it's actually not a big deal
