A bit long.....need your imput
Re: A bit long.....need your imput
It's a difficult situation to answer without being in that situation. The one thing that is making me think she may not come is because she is a mother of a newborn and i know most people wont travel (especially cross country with a newborn) regardless of which type of transportation she prefers. And i highly doubt any new mother would leave their newborn home for 2 days while she is cross country. I do not think you are being unreasonable at all for wanting her to share your special day but if she really is that good of a friend of yours, is she really worth losing because she cant come? If she didnt have a valid reason and just wasnt coming then id say cut her off...but i dont hink i would in this situation. HTH

this is a difficult situation-as a person who is afraid of airplanes(but manages to go on them anyways.....) empathize with her fear which i a sure is magnified by the fact she is a new mom(us w/ this fear feel that it is even scarier because we are now also jeopordizing our children to travel....). Also the fact that to dive here she would have to be away from her newborn for quite a few days(is she breastfeeding?-sorry if TMI, lol). But i totally understand why you would be deeply hurt especially since she said she'd be there. i wouldn't break a friendship over this though. try to be more understanding and be honest with her. maybe she can come w/the baby for your 1yr anniversary.

Did you call her? Having a new must be the most life changing experience. I can't imagine trying to make travel arrangements and actually get on a plane with my new baby. I don't think I'd come unless my infant was at least 6 months old....especially if I'm breast feeding. We can't control how everyone's life unfolds...but we can share in the joy of each other's experiences to the best of our ability. Maybe you and DH can travel out there when you get your video. It would be a heck of a lot easier than traveling with a newborn. It is a huge disappointment though, because of course you want her there. But, try not to take it personal. If your friendship is as solid as your post claims, then you have to trust that she is making the right decision for herself, her family and your friendship. I hope that you call her and work it all out. Good luck!!!
