Occasionally I'll see a straight man with his wedding ring on his right finger. What's the deal???

Re: A burning question
Is it a culture thing? I remember reading somewhere that there was at least one culture/country/religion something that wore wedding rings on the right hand.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe he's a left and it gets in the way. My friend who is a left wears her engagement & wedding rings on her right hand.

Re: A burning question
I know some cultures do it, but these guys seemed like regular Americans. Maybe they come from some kind of European descent and they're carrying on the tradition.
Whenever I see it I want to ask so badly what the reason is!!!

The guys that I've seen do it aren't Greek. They might be married to Greek women. Who knows!

Re: A burning question
Maybe there is a medical reason. Something wrong with the left hand fingers that make wearing it on that hand painful. Arthritis or something?

Re: A burning question
One of my Fh's friends wears his on his right hand. Because he broke his ring finger on his left hand and has arthritis problems with that hand and he is afraid if it starts to swell that he will not be able to get it off.

Re: A burning question
The right hand is a big European thing. That's probably it. Mr Boots told me that... after I schooled him in the ways of the Claddagh ring! He gets so uppity when other cultures have, ya know, culture! His uncle wears his band on his right hand, but his mom wears hers on the left. And my Austrian SIL wears hers on the right.
Or the guys are just idiots and don't know their left from their right.

Hmm.. I don't know for sure, but my husband is Greek Orthodox and noone in his family wears their wedding bands on the right hand
Even at our wedding the priest specifically put the rings on our left ring fingers
