A car big enough for twins

A car big enough for twins

The time has come to start shopping for a new car to cart the twins around in. I was thinking Ford Escape, Honda CRV but a friend said they aren't big enough.

What do you girls think. Imagine, 2 car seats a double stroller and a pack and play in the truck!!
THANKS

Car options also OK.

You should really go and take a look at all your choices in person. Everyone's opinion of 'roomy' is different and everyone's taste and comfort level in a truck/minivan are different. Prices really vary also, so the best thing to do is go test drive a few, and see if theyre FOR YOU!

We've looked at several in the past week.(minivans). Sienna, Quest, MPV, Odyssey. My sister has the MPV and has been really happy with it. She has 3 kids ages 4 and under. We may just go with the MPV. The Odyssey and Quest were also really nice, but HHUUGEEE !! I felt like I was lost in them

Good luck shopping!

ETA: I would definately recommend, if youre getting a truck as opposed to a minivan, get one with a 3rd row in the back. My friend has an Explorer and only has room for her 2 children to sit in the back. If they ever have immediate family that needs a ride somewhere (or if they ever have a 3rd child) theyre going to need a bigger truck already.. So keep that in mind.... The Explorer and Honda Pilot DO come with the 3rd row seat if youre interested.

I think the minivan is the way to go!

My friend got a CRV for their family and she loves it. But I think it might be a bit small with twins and all of the things you have to cart along with them.

My other friend ordered a Sienna and she's very excited about that. There's a huge waiting list for those down here. She ordered hers in July and now wont get it until October! I guess they are very popular.

I think budget and your needs are what will make many choices for you.
Do you drive many other people in your car? Do you go for long trips often or mostly local driving?
I would try both and bring 2 car seats with me to try out in the car.Plus you will need room for a double stroller- which is pretty big.

Yep, the Sienna has a 3month wait! and they are selling at MSRP, they are HOT right now. The Quest is also really nice, but for some reason, probably not selling as well, because they were throwing us deals as we walked out the door!

BRing 2 carseats to a dealership, good luck with that one Im sure they will fit nicely, its just a matter of how much additional room you'll want.

I have twin nephews and my sister in law drives a Honda Accord with 2 car seats and a double stroller in the back. Don't let people tell you what is big enough! I agree that it is kinda tight but they can't afford anything bigger right now.

I can tell you from experience that no car is ever big enough for twins! But you manage.

We are going through a similar thing now -- When we were married I had a new Celica and my DH a Jetta. Once the twins came along, we switched cars (and we are both miserable!) He hates my car, and keeps putting 'For Sale' signs on it. I keep taking them off! I dislike his car just as much. I don't want a minivan and we can't agree on an SUV (and I have safety concerns with them)! Now that I've vented...

The Jetta holds 2 car seats (the convertible ones fit better than the snap ins did), a double stroller and a pack and play, 1 regular size diaper bag (that holds bottles and food), one overnight bag that I use as my day to day diaper bag, a bag of toys, etc. I don't know how I do it, but I do.

Your biggest concern is obviously car seats (as many are actually made to be placed in the center of the back seat -- so the front seats can get in the way. The double (front / back) stroller JUST fits in our car -- we need to remove the trays to fold it enough to fit in the back of the trunk.

When you register -- bring the car you plan to use and bring the car seats out to the car to test them out for fit. BRU will gladly allow you to do this -- same with the stroller.

Good luck and happy packing!

I have a Ford Escape and money wise it is great on the budget but we have said from Day 1 when we got it that when baby #2 comes we would have to upgrade---
it is a great mini SUV with decent trunk space but could see it being tight--
My brother and SIL have twin girls and the Sienna is on the top of their list

My parents just bought the Honda Pilot and love it.
There are som GREAT options. Side airbags, and the weindow, when they go up, if th ebaby happenes to put her/his fingers, it has a sensor and the window will go bacn down
