Erica;

I have no clue, but I'm going to take a guess.

Curled edges - I've seen some examples in magazines of a sculpy clay or paper pulp pressed into molds - could they be done like that, and painted?

The bottom one looks like sand or kitty litter sprinkled on glue - I haven't done embossing and generally have seen it smooth, but again, I've seen some pics that look like heavy textured embossing and maybe it wasn't fully melted.

If you find out more, let me know! I like the look.

I think for the top ones it could be as simple as rolling up the edges you want curled and chalking it a bit to give it more of an aged look.

The bottom ones look like embossing or maybe it's sand glued to the squares.

I think it's so cool that you are making all the embellishments. Please take pics of theirs & yours - I am sure yours will be better!

well unfortunately in my stupidity as a beginner scrapper...I bought these klip its b/c they looked real...well little did I know they are only pictures...

I'm without a digital camera right now (the zoom barral broke and is being fixed)
but I have a polaroid (from our wedding guest book) I'll take pics and scan them...

the bottom sand ones...it definitely isn't sand...its like bubbling

Then that's definitely embossing - maybe it's UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) or it's done several times.

As for the curling - there was a side bar in the magazine I got last night. Tear the edges you want rolled, wet them a little then roll.

Embossing is sooooo easy-- at least dry embossing is--

I bought Fiskars Shapeboss and love it-- there are tons of stencils as well as texture plates that allowed me to make my fireplace look like real bricks and real wood !!!!
