a crazy thought--but i am tired
2 days of X-mas shopping in crowded stores can do this to you--------but i just had this idea and thought it would be funny..........all this talk of get togethers made me think of this idea-i don't know why it popped into my head but, it did!!!-here goes----this is a funny way that we could all wear our gowns again--we could have a get together in a hall and the attire would be our gowns! and our better half could rent a tux and we could just have a big party!! i'm not talking a hall that would cost a fortune just something affordable ---i think that would be too funny---a bunch of brides! i bet channel 12 would come to that!!haha! some great photo ops too-haha----ok i am tired good night!!!!

Re: a crazy thought--but i am tired
Great idea. I think it would be hilarious. In fact, I have actually had similar thoughts, but not on as grand a scale. I thought that maybe evey couple of years I would have a bride-again-for-a-day party with friends and family. Any excuse to wear my dress again!

Re: a crazy thought--but i am tired
I was planning on wearing my dress every 5 years on our anniversary
(figure it'll force me to stay in shape so I can continue to fit in it)Lucky me, I've already gotten to wear it twice (see post below).

Re: a crazy thought--but i am tired
Claud - I wore it to the follow-up party/mini-reception we had in SF as well. On our one month anniversary we rented out a jazz club and invited all our local friends and co-workers that couldn't make it to NY (and those we didn't necessarily invite to the wedding) for drinks and appetizers to celebrate with us.It was awesome (and a bargain in comparison) - and so much fun to wear my dress again! Al had his tux on too, but everyone else was more casual. My parents even flew in for the event, we had a pretty cake and pictures from our wedding for everyone to see.
There was a wedding there the night before, so I even had their leftover flower centerpieces! (red roses in a bowl). I highly recommend it for those planning long distance. It gave us something to still look forward to after we got back from the honeymoon and allowed us to celebrate with those that are in our daily lives but couldn't be at the wedding.
I waited to clean my dress until after the second party.

sounds cute but i don't think my FH would go for it and I hope to be prego on my honeymoon so the dress won't fit me anymore probably

Sounds really fun, but my gown is all preserved, and would not want to spend another 150 on cleaning it again.

LisaMy parents are having a second party for us in Ireland, and I was considering wearing it, but its a Sunday afternoon catered garden party on their propgerty, and I think I would feel funny.
Although, I would love to wear it again.
What do you think?

Re: a crazy thought--but i am tired
dubliner - I would go for it. I'd have a hard time passing up the opportunity. Originally the idea of wearing my dress again came to me as a joke. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I did want to wear it again and I'm so glad I did. It was such fun, and even though everyone else was so much more casual (jeans, etc) I was still thrilled that I decided to go for it.What does your dress look like? If its a lot of dress, it may be overwelming. Mine was an A line.
