A day without drama......

A day without drama......

....would be a vacation right now!!!

Alright yesterday I posted about my aunt thinking that my afternoon wedding should be business casual to which a lot of you replied that there's 'one' in every family... looks like I got more than my fair share.

Well, today the fun does not stop. FH's parents just went finished up a nasty divorce after 38 years of marriage due to FFIL cheating on FMIL just after surgery to remove tumors from her lung. They both could not see past their anger and completely ruined the family during this process. (That was the short version.)

We have already told FFIL that out of respect for FMIL and the rest of the family we would appreciate it if he did not bring his GF (the homewrecker). He understood and accepted. Well, I just got off the phone with FH...FFIL and his GF are going to Vegas next month to get married. Now etiquette (sp) dictates that we have to invite her.

Ladies and Gents, forget General Hospital...tune into the soap opera that is now my life. At this point I might as well invite Jerry Springer to referee.

I have a headache!

Awww.....take a deep breath and relax. As much as you wish these things didn't complicate your life, they have. But in the big picture, they won't ruin your day. Someday you'll laugh at the drama...

Honey your life is not a soap it is still a fairytale as long as you put these issues in their rightful place..in thier ahnds..not yours... and these are real life issues that you have to face on your journey but can be put aside for one day.

Oh Kriss....

I am so sorry - what a nightmare. I think what you need to do is concentrate on YOU and you FH and you big day...let everyone elses drama be their own.

The day of - everyone is going to have to put their differences aside - and focus on you guys.

No matter what anyone is wearing, or doing, or acting like you will be the wife of the man you love - so I am sure that will override any other concerns or feelings about your family!

So sorry you are going through this...just thought i pass a story on to you. Last year we went to FH's friends wedding where almost the same thing happened...married 30 or so years, he cheats and leaves the mom. Well they go to get married and ask the dad not to bring the girlfriend, father agrees and they went to LV and got married...well the father came back and the son (groom) told him he still could not bring her....the father still came without his new wife......

And if I was this new wife there is no way I would want to go to the wedding...everybody would be staring at her and most everyone would dislike her....

Just thought that story would help

Thanks ladies. I appreciate all of your support

As far as looking back and being able to laugh about it at some point. I'm laughing at it now, just not sure if it's the kind of laughter that will heal me or put me in the looney bin.

I definetly don't follow all of the freaking etiquette rules, or I would be going insane. If he agreed to not take her, then no need to invite her. I personally don't see why you should have to add this additional stress onto yours, fh and fmil shoulders.

I don't know what to say, but

Re: A day without drama......

Well, your FFIL already agreed not to bring her and even though he is going off to marry her, too bad, he already said he wouldn't bring her. Nothing has changed in the whole realm of things, this is still the woman he cheated with and destroyed his marriage over, married or not. I think her being there would cause a lot of tension, hurt and a totally uncomfortable feeling for your FH's family. I hope everything works out for you!!

Re: A day without drama......

I so feel bad for you! Weddings are suppossed to be fun...where did I hear that?

Heres my soap opera...my mom and dad married...he had 5 kids..yes 5 ...already from a marriage that had JUST ended...then my parents split...then Dad re-married...had 2 kids...divorced and then years later re-married again the previous ex-wife...so I not only have 7 brothers/sisters but a step brother and my dad will have my mom, my half sisters mom and his current wife ( my step mom) there...where am I sitting my dad and his THREE WIVES???????

Re: A day without drama......

if you have to invite her, sit her homewrecking a$$ in the BACK!! Give her the worst seat in the house.

IMO opinion 'etiquette' can be interpreted differently from person to person... who cares what emily post says, don't ruin your wedding day worrying about some hoe. do whatever you want to!!
