A Dress Question

If your dress comes in super early, do you have to take it? My dress is due to come in any day, and my wedding is in October!!

Re: A Dress Question

I think it depends...
if you're getting it altered where you bought it they can usually store it for you.

Silly question, they can't CHARGE you for holding your dress for a very long time, can they?

Re: A Dress Question

lucky- my gown won't be in until March for my May wedding. I don't need it sooner than that anyway but it's still exciting to know it's ready! I would def not keep it around the house though. If I had mine already and it was stored in the house, I would try it on every few days .... wonder if its taboo to wear it like 85 times before the wedding day

Re: A Dress Question

No, you don't have to bring it home. You should be able to keep the dress at the store until the week of the wedding or when you have finished all your fittings. After it's pressed and you get it home you have to open the whole thing up and hang it from the ceiling and keep a clean sheet around it to protect it. I just brought mine home yesterday

Re: A Dress Question

You should keep it there. I was told that my dress will come in around March and they will call me to come in to see it. Then 5 weeks before I will go for my first fitting. They will hold the dress for you.

Re: A Dress Question

My MOH got her dress at David's Bridal and they made her take it home quite a while before the wedding. There was some period of time that they said they would not hold our dresses longer than....something like a few weeks.

Other dress shops I think you should be fine at.

I think it depends on the shop. My dress came in nearly two months ago for my July wedding and they are holding it at no charge.

My dress is coming in January. My wedding isn't until Oct. also. They said they will start fittings eight weeks before my wedding, so they will hold it until then.

I only took mine to bring to the place I was going for alterations. I needed something alot closer to me. But I wouldn't keep it at home, but I also have a dog and dont want him near it lol

Re: A Dress Question

If you can't keep it at home leave it with a friend. If you leave it at the shop, how can you be sure they don't let ppl try it on your dress like its a sample?

I personally think you should bring it home, wear it out, go shopping in it, etc....

really get your money's worth!

Re: A Dress Question

I got my dress at Bridal Elegance. It came in 5 months earlier than it was supposed to. It came in 11 days to my 1 year mark!!!

I have only seen it once. If I lived on Long Island I would have seen it more, but for now it lives with the nice ladies there.

Re: A Dress Question

I have a friend that had to take it and at my shop you don't have to, actually they don't let you. I left it there until May when I am ready for alterations. I went there to see it to make sure it was the right dress and had nothing wrong with it.
