a friend asked me to be part of her bp but....

Original post by latinaj

So, a whle ago a coworker asked me to be part of her bp....thsi totally caught me, fh, and our friends by surprise! I said yes at the moment, bc I was totally put in the spot.
Now, to give u some background info on this future bride...
- wedding was almost called off at least twice
- infidelity
- begged me not to attend the eparty
- we dont' talk/hang out outside of work...we recentrly exchanged cell phone #'s.

I really dont think she wants to get married and above all I feel very uncomfortable being part of this bp, investing my time and $.

I have made up my mind and I want to tell her that I cannot participate...how can I break these news?

Use finances as an excuse. Explain that it will be hard since you and your FH are planning your own wedding right now.

I def. agree with Laura. This is by far the best reason you can use. It doesnt make you look bad, and wont make her feel bad.

I guess it looks like using the 'finance' exuse is the best route!

ITA... she can't question that... I'm sure she doesn't know anything about your personal finances.

ITA!!

I wouldn't be in that wedding party either! It sounds like an uncomfortable spot for you to be in and also a waste of time and money.

ITA with everyone else...not worth it.
