A groom's perspective on your online cult you have
Original post by autumn
This is the groom to be
My fiance spends a lot of her time on this site. Trying to get ideas and to share her thoughts about our upcoming wedding. As I do fully support women actually thinking about their men, I have got say that you women are bordering on insanity. How many lonely nights has your fiancee had to go to bed alone because you have to see the latest post? How many dishes stay dirty in the sink because you have to get 1000 posts for a T shirt? I'm tired of hearing about who is getting seat cushions and who is getting a chocalate fountain. I dont care!!!! All I am worried about, as are many of your own fiances is How much is this gonna cost? A lot of married men I talk to say the sex drops off after marraige. I have come to learn that this is false. This may have been true before the internet but now thanks too LI weddings myself and many other guys go to bed 'Blue' because of this site.
Thanks alot Ron & Liz

This is incredibly funny. Doesn't he have something that he does that drives you insane? Does he cease doing that when you request it? Too funny.

this is hilarious! I read it to fh and he had the nerve to agree. it didn't take me long to remind him about his other girlfriend, her name is Baseball. He got very very very quiet. We have to be careful if we let these boys find support in one another they may band together and try to overthrow - there could be a fh/dh uprising!

boo hoo. and bah humbug to you board-invading FIANCE!!!!! Dear John- Looooooooooooooong before I found this site, FH was introduced to this little thing called scout.com and within it's boundaries, the wake forest sports message boards....do you know the jerk used MY email address to sign up for it b/c he didn't want all the junk emails??? he comes home from work (where he IMs and emails me posts from this sports message board all day) and cuts on our computer to see what's changed in the 45 minutes he drove home, he then compares that with ESPN.com and ESPN, ESPN2 and FOX SPORTS and at times, YES! I have long been alienated by these sports message boards. If I fall asleep first, he gets out of bed to go check the boards. Before he gets in the shower or even puts in his contacts (he wears -4.25...he's blind) he starts the computer and goes to his sports boards. I'm so lucky to be on here right now....wait, that's only b/c he's playing real basketball instead of fantasizing with other miserable Wake Forest fans (see a depressed Jets fan if you are unsure of what the signs are). We have been late to weddings, doctor appointments and dinner because he needed to check the boards one more time. He managed to annoy one guy so much that he created a 'fake' email account to have a bidding war....he was offering him money to stop posting....which he ultimately refused to do. Should've taken the $$$!!! Do I blame scout.com or even his alma mater Wake Forest University for this debacle??? NOPE. I blame his dear friend Robert who is also married to one lonely gal as he, too, is constantly checking 'the boards' and proudly introduced my once devoted, loving and fun to be around FH...but now he's been obsessed for 3 solid years.
KUDOS to Ron and Liz for giving us brides something to fight back with!!!!!!
btw...the more you complain about the lack of fun in the bedroom, the longer we can hold out!
eta-dramatic effect of directing the post at John.

Re: A groom's perspective on your online cult you have
I think most of our FHs would agree that LIW does take away from what might be some good QT. Especially for us ladies who come on at night. My only qualm with the post is that he seems more upset about dishes piling up in the sink and his Johnson. Patience is a virtue, and you're only engaged once. I know sometimes my FH wishes I never found LIW, but only b/c it gets in the way of a TV show or movie we could be watching together, not b/c it keeps me from household chores. After 6/23, I'm sure my time on here will become less and less and he knows that. He has seen some of the incredilbe ideas that have come from this site, and been witness to $$ saved due to recommendations. It's a partnership - I put up with poker nights, football Sundays, clicking over to ESPN and Baseball Tonight every free chance he gets, and his own Boards where he manages several fantasy teams, but in the end, we manage to find time for each other, and that is what counts.

This is the groom to be
How many lonely nights has your fiancee had to go to bed alone because you have to see the latest post? None! FH is his own man and he decides when he wants to go to bed. My participation on this site doesn't affect his precious sleep in the least!
How many dishes stay dirty in the sink because you have to get 1000 posts for a T shirt? Whatever number of dirty dishes he has left behind. Personally, I clean up after myself and expect him to do the same!
I'm tired of hearing about who is getting seat cushions and who is getting a chocalate fountain. My FH is not. He loves coming to showcases, LIW events and GTGs. He's met several of the lovely ladies on this site and is always quick to ask how they are doing and to send regards when things aren't going well.
I dont care!!!! All I am worried about, as are many of your own fiances is How much is this gonna cost? My FH would disagree, and in fact has said numerous times that he doesn't understand any guy who has that attitude. Reason - ummm, it's your (his) wedding too! What's the reason you don't care about anything more than finances? Not that I am by any means encouraging you to all of a sudden become groomzilla, but my FH thinks the attitude of tell me who to write the check to, and when and where to show up is total BS from any groom. Heck, he was with me at the shoe store yesterday doing a few dance steps to make sure the shoes I was considering would be comfortable the day of. Why?? Because it's his wedding too, and he has put just as much effort into making the day something he and I will cherish forever as I have, and that's important to him!!!
A lot of married men I talk to say the sex drops off after marraige. I have come to learn that this is false. This may have been true before the internet but now thanks too LI weddings myself and many other guys go to bed 'Blue' because of this site. Lisa, please forgive me for this. Dear Groom, if sex is dropping off in your relationship maybe there is something you are doing wrong. Remember those days in the beginning of the relationship when you were courting your bride to be?? Remember the effort you put in to put on cologne, be clean shaven etc. Where is all that effort now? Remember taking her out on a date and holding her hand, and opening doors for her? Try treating her like a lady and not a sex machine who you want to be at your beck and call and perhaps she will be more responsive!
Thanks alot Ron & Liz Thanks for the laugh! After everything I've been going through the past few days, I really needed it!

Re: A groom's perspective on your online cult you have
ummm Darlene, you took most of the words out of my mouth.
As a NEWLYWED married 3 weeks I can say this:
My DH used to b!tch and moan about the time I spent on this site, UNTIL he saw how much money we were saving, UNTIL he came with me to a LIW event and we won $1,000, UNTIL he realized that all of my hard work and research on this website paid off in our wedding being the big success that it was, and having amazing vendors.
Fact of the matter is, we are both our own people just like we were before we met. We both have our own interests still and we do not need to be around each other 24/7. That's what helps a marriage. AND I had to yell at him to get him to help me with things for the wedding. I was not marrying myself. I should not have had to do everything myself since it was his wedding also!!!!
And BTW, if I am able to put up with Football, Baseball, Boxing, Hockey, Basketball, Golf, Poker tournaments & video games, then you BETTER BELIEVE he can put up with my being on a website!!!
Oh, and just for the record, HE WANTED THE BIG RECEPTION WEDDING!!! I wanted to elope to Vegas.

Re: A groom's perspective on your online cult you have
My DH goes into work everyday to an office full of people who tell him that we had the best wedding they have ever been to. He knows where we got some of the ideas. He also knows that this site has given me more local friends and that because of that I am no longer fighting with him to move back to the city. My old friends are great but many of them are in the city and I'm in Suffolk. And, he won a plasma TV.
