A head hunter just told me off on the phone

he was so mean.

he said to me ok so what have you been doing since Feb (that is when I last worked) I said going on interviews. He said you have been going on interviews and you have no job since feb, apparently their is something wrong here. I need you to come in today by 3pm, we need to talk

(Mind you I never spoke to this man before)

I said well I have things set today how about tomorrow.

He yelled at me and told me well if you want a job your things are not important, your life is not important, what is important is to get into my office so we can get this ball rolling and get you a job. Now here is my address, the floor I am on and my name, I will see you by 3pm today

click...

***!!! What if I was not home, what if I had a doctors appointment.

I did not like his attitude. I told FI do you believe what he said to me, he just made me feel like I am an inch big. I know I am out of work and I have not had a job since Feb but I dont need a head hunter who I never met coming down hard on me like that. He put me in a bad mood.

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

thanks. Brian said the same thing. He asked if the guy left a phone number, I said no but it came up on caller ID. He said call them back and speak to a supervisor and tell them how this guy treated you on the phone.

I am going to do that later today.

I am not going to see him. I have a few other head hunters who I have spoken too who seem very nice and I want to give them my time

I would NEVER met with a man who talked to me like that. Truth is he is probably not a very good head hunter if he is acting that way.
Call back and speak to the OWNER!

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

I am definatly not going to see this man.

The number came up on caller ID so I am definatly going to be making phone calls. I dont know if it will do any good, but at least the owner or whoever talks to me will know what kind of people they have working for them

Melissa, I wouldn't even waste my time with either this guy or the agency whom he works for, unless you have had prior business relationship with them (i.e. the agency has sent you on interviews, etc). Otherwise, you would only be helping them by speaking to a manager, and I don't believe that a good manager would let his subordinates work like this...

I am sure someone will care - this guy is not going to bring in elligible applicants speaking to people like that. therefore the company will not make money, believe me someone will care.

Oh and I would call AFTER 3:00, so he sits there waiting for you.

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

I just called...

OMG I spoke to the president of the company. He was so mad that one of his agents spoke to me like that. At first he was like well he probably has something for you. I said well his attitude was terrible and he made me feel like its completly my fault I am not getting a job. He made it seem I need to drop what I am doing because he called me.

The president appologized. I told him an attitude like that I dont want to come in and see him.

The president felt so bad and said oh absolutly I could understand. He then took my name and phone number and said I will personally handle this matter and talk to another agent who will help you.

I feel so much better. I am so happy I made that call

I used to be a headhunter.. this is sort of the mentality these guys have- they are trying to get you fired up..

If I were you I would go- what if he has something?

He'll be waiting till 3pm and oh well

He just costed himself a possible client because of his attitude.

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

sassy why would he want to get my fired up??

Its an attitude like that, that shuns me away.

I like the head hunters who are nice, seem caring, call you in, and seem to really pay attention to my needs

Though lately dont get me started on head hunters because a lot of them are on my $hit list

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

I hate headhunters. Every one I have ever seen has tried to push me into something I wasn't looking for.

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

mlp i know what you mean. i am very anti head hunters but everyone keeps telling me that is the only way i'll get a job because companies use them to weed out applicants rather then doing it themselves.

i just cant stand the constant testing, the constant thanks for coming in i'll call you when i have something and never hear from them again, and the constant oh i have something and then the next day nope sorry the company went a different way.

lately it seems that is all i am getting.

What field are you in? Are you only looking in Manhattan?

Chippa, what kind of job are you looking for? Does it require a headhunter?

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

I am an admin assistant.

I am looking only in the city because I am in Queens and I dont have a car to really travel so its much easier for me to get to the city then anywhere else

Re: A head hunter just told me off on the phone

The way I see it is, what do you have to lose.. maybe he has a job for you- maybe he wants to get you fired up to come in, see if you have the right attitude for the job he wants to staff.. Seems the nice ones haven't done anything for you because you don't have a job yet..I don't know... Look- I know it's hard to find a job right now- the market is aweful.. so when I was unemployed I went on EVERY SINGLE appointment- whether it was life insurance or a crap headhunter... you just cannot afford to miss out on a chance because you NEVER know when the perfect job will be ready for you.
