A-line dress and crinoline

Did anyone wear a slip/crinoline with their dress. Where did you get it? How poofy (Small, Medium, Full)? How much? Do you have pics? Sorry for all the questions.

i am getting an A-line dress that already has some crinoline. I could add extra but I am thinking i don't want it that poofy. I would have to say it is your preferance though. Imagine what you would feel comfortable wearing.

I also have an A line dress that alredeady comes with crinoline sewn underneath. I am definately no buying a slip with more poofiness. I tried my dress on with the slip and without, and the slip made my dress look slightly poofier, which I didnt like. But it's totally up to you and the look you are going for.

If you decide you want a really full, poofy skirt, you can buy the slip at a bridal salon (top dollar) or go to a discount web site like bride save, or even ebay has a ton of them. They kind of look old fashioned-- like something you'd see underneath a victorian lady'd dress, with a ruffle along the bottom, and a drawstring or elastic waist. Not very nice looking in my opinion!

my dress comes w/ crinoline built in as well. I want to keep it as non poofy as possible.

The 1st dress I bought looked best w/added crinoline.ETA- A friend gave me hers slip to borrow. I like the ones that zipper up around your waist vs. the ones that tie. The zippery ones hold in more (on me)

I agree- its a matter of preference..

my dress comes with a a layer of crinoline and i wasn't going to wear a slip with it, but...we found my mothers slip from her wedding in a box in our attic. it is a-line with just a little bit of crinoline on the bottom. it doesn't really do much, but i am going to wear for sentimental reasons.

I wore no crinoline & no slip. I wanted a 'drapy' sort of a-line, not a stiff one.

ETA: I actually cut out all of the crinoline that came with the dress & just left the built in lining

I had some crinoline in my dress but I liked the way the dress looked with a slip under it. I only had a 1 or 2 layore slip, it wasn't real poofy at all.

Did anyone have to shorten it?

I'm pretty sure it was shorter than teh gown already...I am 5'6' and it didn't cover my feet.

Yes, my slip was hemmed at one of the tiers.

I got mine from Bridal Petticoat online. I sent them a pic of the dress and they told me which one to get. It is adjustable as to the fullness. It was 54.50 compared to the 65.00 one that the salon wanted me to buy when it didn't even hold up my dress properly.
