It depends on your body type. A-line looks good on just about everyone.

Agree ... I soooo wanted a ball gown ... unfortunately I am 5'0' and looked like an inverted mushroom in every dress I triedn on!
I settled for an A-line but I got a full a-line ... which means I'll have a nice size chrinolen skirt underneath so it comes waaaaaaay out at the bottom but it's not as poofy from the waist.

That's very funny since we ended up with the same A-Line dress and it's going to look so different on the two of us!
Did Spitzergirl come back yet? I want to see her pics and veil!

Try on both styles, then choose what you like the best. I couldn't stop smiling when I was trying on the dress!

Its really just a matter of taste and what looks flattering on you. Both styles are beautiful!

I agree and think a ball gown on a shorter person such as myself at 5'2' looks like the dress is wearing me.

Re: A Line or Ballgown
I think it depends a little bit on the type of ballgown (how big is it).
I love the ballgown look, but I have a small waist and my hips are pretty large in proportion - combine that with a ballgown and it simply doesn't look good . I think I'm going to compromise by getting an organza A line - these tend to be fuller yet make you look slimmer .

When I was shopping for a dress, I asked the same question!
I say, Try Them On!!!! You will fall in love with one, ballgown or Aline and that is the perfect dress. Actually (without even trying) I decided I DEfiNATELY wanted ballgown, but now.. have a puffy A-Line
