A little Advice from a recent Bride
I just wanted to share with you brides to be some advice for your big day....and most of it I learned from here!
1) Bring extra copies of the readings to the church. Actually, give them to someone else to bring. I forgot the extra copies and about 5 minutes before the ceremony one of readers came up to me in the limo and asked if I happened to have an extra copy. Luckily it was a bible reading so she found it eventually!
2) BRING SAFETY PINS. About 10 minutes into the recpetion one of my guy friends stepped on my dress on the dancefloor and the entire bustle ripped. Thank God my BMs were able to pin it right back up otherwise I think i would have taken the scissors to it just to be able to get back on the dancefloor!
3) Make sure to dance! My DH and I danced almost every single dance and it is very contagious. All our guests said they had so much fun b/c the bride and groom were having so much fun.
4) If there is a certain picture you want, be sure to tell the phtographer way ahead of time ( like the week before). I really wanted a college pic since my fi and I went to the same school and there must have been 25 alumni there but I completely forgot all about it that night.
5) Get a video! I don't mean you have to hire a professional for thousands of $$...just make sure Uncle Larry or your husbands cousin has film of the processional and the ceremony and maybe even the first dance. I hired a film student the week of my wedding for $200 to shoot the ceremony, cocktail hour, first dance and best man speech and I am sooooo happy I did. I was adamandt about not getting video but now I am so glad I can watch everyone come down the aisle and see us exchange vows. It will go by so fast that you will be happy to have it.
6) Try not to stress about the weather. I really did and it almost ruined my weekend. It does not matter what the weather is on your day - the rain or snow or sleet will not diminish your happiness or the incredible love you feel at wedding.
7) Do a guest book or wish bowl. We did a wish bowl at the last minute and the wise little pieces of advice and funny notes were priceless. Give your guests a few drinks and its amazing how poetic some of them can be!
I think thats it. Just remember to have fun and enjoy every minute. It is an amazing experience!
