So apparently I just talked to my priest at the church we are getting married in and the flower girls are not allowed to drop petals bc they dont want to clean them up. I even offered to have members of my family do it and he still said no bc people miss them and don't do a good enough job. I feel like this is ridiculous!!! Isn't that the whole point of the flower girl??? Does anyone else have this issue...Sorry just had to vent!

Re: A little annoyed
The Diocese of Rockville Centre has implemented a 'Nothing on the floor policy'. I think it's because objects on the floor are considered tripping hazards. Maybe there was a lawsuit in the recent past. They also don't allow aisle runners. My church didn't allow anything on the floor. But my SIL's did (St. Cyril & Methodius). So I guess it depends on the church.

Re: A little annoyed
You'd think after paying the church to hold the wedding, your flower girls would be allowed to drop petals down the aisle. And no aisle runners? I'm sorry, that's just ridiculous!
It's annoying, but I'm honestly not surprised. Still,

Re: A little annoyed
When we meet with our priest again in 2 weeks, I'm going to ask about the aisle runner, because I honestly have no idea. All I know is that they're going to have baptisms at 1:30 and our mass is at 3.

Re: A little annoyed
I've heard of this rule before. I thought it was more of a mess issue rather than a tripping hazard. I just assummed that people could step on the rose petals and kind of mash them into the carpet. If this is the case, could you see if your FG can use the cloth petals instead?

Not sure about the petals, but I was imformed that the aisle runner was a tripping issue.

Re: A little annoyed
So after complaining about this to a few diff people my aunt had a really good idea. She said why don't u ask the reception hall ifthe girls can drop the flowers right before you are announced so when they come out they can toss them. I thought that was a really good idea because I know they r going to be disappointed about the whole church thing. So its an idea for anyone else with this issue. Also my aunt bought me a sign that says here comes the bride on one side and just married on the other....so I think that will b adorable and the fg's will be happy now that they have a job at thechurch...so I guess my venting is solved lol

Re: A little annoyed
My church has a similar policy (no throwing things), because it is a historic site and clean up will be a drag.
I am going to use Pomander/Kissing ball for my flower girl...

Is this just recently and for all churches? I spoke to my priest back in December and he said we could do whatever we wanted. I'd think aisle runners are just unsafe for hardwood / tiled foors but petals should be safe. Plus shouldn't it be a church by church decision?
That's what I was told at pre-cana anyway about aisle runners.
